Got it all on TIVO. Might watch it this evening or the weekend. Looks top-notch. Glad to have it, since most of my other shows have ended their season.

I recorded it and watched the finale last night. Really well done. I of course had heard of the Hatfields and McCoys as everyone else, but didn't know the history behind the feud.

I watched part one and half of two last night and the rest this morning. Talk about a marathon movie. I worked every night this aired. Recorded it on my DVR but it's also on on-demand (as mentioned) in case anyone wants to see it. This is actually very accurate. If you can check out the WV miniseries documentary (1996) Ken Burns, Narrated by Richard Thomas. They dedicate half of part 3 to the feud.

              Thanks H.
I was hoping someone could note the historical accuracy of this. Double thanks for mentioning The Burns Documentary as another source of reference. I vaguely remember the 70's Mini-series with Jack Palance. But soon after found out it was more a fictional account. I watched all 3 nites along with the encore showings. I thought the whole thing was well acted, entertaining and informative. I'm a big fan of Bill Paxton. I think the guy is a great actor. The way he just boldly through's himself into these roles. He convincingly portrayed the Elder McCoy's as Broken war vet and almost religious fanatic. It was a well acted sympathetic but tragic character portrayal. Costner's Anse Hatfield came off as more devious and manipulative. I'd have to agree. He is suited better to westerns. Beringer's Uncle Vance was also well portrayed as I hated that SOB! I could'nt wait to see him get his. The other great thing in the portrayal of the 2 patriarchs. Is the underlying reluctance they had to escalate this feud. I thought this rational as both men had seen the horrors of war and would not wish to bring that home with them.
I hope I did'nt Hi-Jack this thread. But this is a topic of great interest to people in my area. I think its also a interesting side note to those interested in the history of the Civil War. For those who are on the fence about watching this mini series. Or have issue with some of the cast. I think its worth watching for the history and the portrayals.
