Well I had a big fight with CGC yesterday almost knock the living crap out of one of there reps! First signature that I got was Len Wein on #181 and #1 giant sized. Okay later met with Stan took pics then had other books signed by him. Then went to CGC to get them to grade and slabbed but this dickhead rep tells me who was my witness on the Len Wein signature....I told him my family and the pictures I have with him/signing it. Dickhead rep tells me that it wasn't good enough and that I needed a CGC witness to be there when signing. The rep states there are rules. I was cussing a storm to them that where in the F$&# does it explains that us fans we need a witness.Rules need to be by all artist/writers for autographs for CGC for this problem. I told him how long have you been in business? He goes seen '99. I told him you have had this F-ing problem since then in all your convention......so basically he said yes! So I had a rep come back with me and go talk to Len to verify even though I had pics of with him and signing them. Len was cool and told the rep they needed to get there crap right!
So guys if your gonna get a comic signed at a show especially high end books take a witness with you from CGC before he signs it, then get the witness to go with you to the CGC booth, and get it graded/slabbed

    Like I said......"What a day!"

I can sort of understand it if Trimpe signed the cover, because he did the cover... but I just don't understand it when a writer, or in the case of Stan Lee, an Editor In Chief signing the cover. BTW, congrats on getting Len to sign the book. Herb Trimpe should be easy to get to sign...and he is one of the nicest people to get to talk to. Talked to him at the last show in Manhattan for about a half hour about Baseball. If you're gonna go the whole route in getting autographs of that Hulk 181, you may want to get Romita Sr. to autograph it too. He was the co creator of the look of Wolverine. There's a sketch in the book Grail Pages that is the first design of Wolverine. I can tell you it's fun and frustrating trying to get a book signed by all involved. Took me more than 15 years to get my X-Men 94 signed by all involved. Good Luck.
Well here the deal with my book. Its going to graded thru CGC at the moment Herb Trimpe and Romita Sr. are going be at the New York convention in October. When I get my book back I have the option to send back to CGC and have them get the book signed by them both and then regraded it.

I have sooooo many books autographed by artists and writers and not one of them has been CGC authenticated. What you went through is all the more reason not to go through their so called authentication process. I know when and where I got all of my autographs and that's good enough for me. They are all personalized so it wouldn't even matter because I don't think someone wants a book autographed to me in their collection

I think you'll have a ball talking to both Trimpe and Romita Sr. I can't believe you didn't get an autograph with Perez. Was he doing head sketches for $25?? I got one at the Manahattan show recently and it was freakin' awesome. Such a cool and down to earth guy.
