Best Buy plans to close 50 big stores...

...and open 100 mobile stores. I've seen those. Unimpressed. Just looks like your standard AT&T phone store in the mall. Looks like their on their way out now. Poor management. I use to always go in there when they had a huge selection of DVDs and CDs. But when they started weeding all of that out, I had no interest in it anymore.

Who can honestly say they're shocked? No customer service, overpricing, getting fisted by Geek Squad, poor inventory, lack of product knowledge. They just need to change their name to Average Buy.

I'm like Tom and used to purchase media there, but they downgraded that stuff and made it harder to find anything. Can't remember the last time I've walked through those doors, and it's only two miles form me.

Best Buy's aggressive personnel didn't help either. Seems like when you are just browsing, everyone wanted to "help" you, but if you actually needed an answer on a product, no one had it.

I bought my first big-screen TV there. I had to return it, and the process was so aggravating I swore I'd never buy any kind of appliance there again. It went on for over 4 months before I got a new TV. Horrible.

I hate to see folks out of work, but I won't shed a tear for the business itself.

I used to love Best Buy but I hate them now. They stock very few DVD's or CDs. Their computers are junk, loaded with all kinds of programs that they try to charge you to take off. Throw in poor customer service and no product knowledge, I won't miss them one bit.

I bought a new laptop there last year and the laptop itself was a pretty good price. After going over all the stuff they could do and add it was going to double in cost. I had my best friend do it all for free. And yeah talk about in your face. I said no dammit now leave us alone. Haven't stepped foot in one since.

Blockbuster, BestBuy, I can not wait until WalMart suffers the same fate. Over expansion and a brutal strategy to kill of the mom and pop shops, no sympathy here.

I still use them for some things. We actually got our washer and dryer from there about 8 years ago and the purchase and delivery was painless, but I've always wondered what it would be like now. Quite a difference almost a decade makes.
                      It's all good!

I'ts not like they're all going out...yet. It's really no surprise though. Where I live, if I want to go to Best Buy, I can choose from 7 of them within a 20 miles radius. 3 of these locations are right around the corner from me. The best thing about them is they sell Macs with 18 months no interest if you put it on the Best Buy credit card where as the Apple store doesn't offer anything like that at all.

My biggest problem with Best Buy happened when they first opened years ago and I applied for their credit card. I went with my dad and somehow, they put my name and info on their card but with his SS number and it actually screwed my credit up for a while and took a few years to get straightened out. I still have a problem using their credit card on the website because of this and were talking about fifteen or more years ago. I used to love the Wiz back in the day but I got over that no problem. Im sure I'll get by if Best Buy shuts down too. All these stores are pretty much the same anyway.

My guess is,they won't disappear completely if they do close up. I'm sure they'll move everything to on-line sales.

Bought Hill Street Blues S1 & S2 on DVD there for $9.99 each last fall. I was surprised how little DVD's they now have. There used to be 8-9 aisles full of stuff years back. There was barely 3 aisles now.

I only go there for big purchases (appliances, computers, tv's, etc.). They should be fine if they keep a very small inventory of DVD's, games, etc. and move most of it online and stick strictly to the larger appliances where consumers want to look at the product and ask questions before buying.
