Bill Murray Out For Ghostbusters 3 (again)

Here's a new article about the return of the Ghostbusters and supposedly Bill Murray is out but the retired and hasn't done a thing since Brother Bear, Rick Moranis is in!? This is one movie I really hope never gets made. The will they/won't they thing has been going on since the 90's and at this point I hope they don't. The 1st GB is my all time favorite movie but the second one was top heavy. It's like they took all the jokes that didn't make the first film and tried them out in the sequel and they didn't need to get every single actor from the first film back. Sigourney Weaver, Annie Potts, Rick Moranis and Ernie Hudson didn't all need need to be there. It just didn't work so I can only imagine how awful shoehorning everyone back into a third movie would turn out especially now that they're all close to 60.

I'm rooting more for a reboot of Ghostbusters maybe written by Aykroyd & Ramis and directed by Ramis or Reitman but hopefully it won't include the kid from Moneyball and the fat kid from Knocked-Up or involve Venkman coming back as a ghost like they've mentioned for the past few years....

Oh god no. I think Jonah hill is the most over rated, piece of crap, self centered, egotistical, i want to run out of the theater actor in hollywood today.

I think it could have been a funny film if had been circa 2003 -04 and they spoofed on the ghost hunter craze. Outside of that, leave it in the 20th Century where it belongs and can be appreciated.

I'd rather see a re-boot than a live action movie version of Extreme Ghostbusters.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

On a side but related note - I admire Rick Moranis a lot. I always thought he was great, from SCTV to his movies. He retired from acting to raise his kids after his wife died.

A reboot is the only way to go. If you can't have the original three, there's no point in trying to make it work. I wouldn't go see it without Bill Murray.

^What Tom said. And I didn't know that about Moranis. I wondered why he just up and disappeared.

Bill Murray is Ghostbusters! without him, they should just squash the idea and move on with another project.

I hope the Rumors are false But Dan and Bill do have a relationship beyond the business .I hope Dan and Harold and Bill can come to an agreement about the script .personally I think its just Hollywood talk that they would proceed without Murray!

I always think of John Belushi when the movie of Ghostbusters is discussed. I believe that Dan Aykroyd was actually writing a line for John in the script when he received the phone call that John had died. There is some interesting trivia of that movie including which actors were originally wanted for the movie.

I thought Murray had the final ok on another film even if he wasn't in it.
Not sure I want to see the Ghostbusters franchise brought back just to hand it over to Jonah Hill or Michael Cera or Seth Rogan. Maybe the kid from Zombieland though.

Agreed. The first one was terrific, but the second one was a pale comparison. This is one that they should just leave alone unless they had a terrific script for a reboot.

I feel about this like I do Indy V. As tempting as it is to want one more, in the back of your mind you know it should just be left alone.

Definitely some interesting tidbits in there. Some of those casting possibilities seem weird in retrospect. Candy instead of Moranis. Eddie Murphy as Winston. Chrsitopher Walken, Jeff Goldblum or Christopher LLoyd as Egon? Also if I hadn't read that, I would have gone the rest of my life without knowing that Ron Jeremy was in Ghostbusters...
