    Ohh why can't they see?

Sears Holdings Corp. plans to close between 100 and 120 Sears and Kmart stores after poor sales during the holidays

    Read more at:

    And or here...

    http://news.yahoo.com/sears-close-12...113743523.html

It is really sad to see more and more stores closing. Even more sad along with that will no doubt come even more jobless peeps.

K-Mart and Sears sales have been declining for many years yet no one can see this happening? Ohh why can't they see?

Instead of trying to better their stores and provide better service, merchandise and prices they continue to stay in the very same rut that has got them in this very place to begin with.

It is really mind blowing to me to watch a big company continue to spiral out of control. If something IS broke by all means fix it people!!! What are you guys waiting for Christmas?

It is a good thing that I am not in charge. Heads would roll! And I am not talking about the little guys (stockers, cashiers) either.

Wal-Mart my man. Plus Sears was holding way to much real estate. K-marts been dead a long time.

I hate them all, but in the end, you will have a few malls and wal-mart. I'm reading up on my Chinese right now. Everyone wants cheaper, well in the end, we will see how cheap it really was.

I read that earlier, Kills me to see this. but there's nothing you can do if the executives want to pocket the money and not put it back into the company and give it a facelift......

Yeah, it's stupid-hard to buy things at K-Mart. If an item is in stock, and I can actually find one somewhere near where it's supposed to be, I then struggle to determine the item's price. If, on the off chance I'm able to divine the item's price, I am then faced with the monumental challenge of finding a cashier whose register isn't frozen and who isn't waiting for 'check approval' from some rumored/ethereal manager. Said cashier must then be willing to play along and ring up the item & take my money, and resist the temptation to ejaculate, "I'm on break!" while cracking its gum in my general direction. So, yeah...I don't shop there any more.

Sears is a shame. They do a lot of things, but none of them well. Lowe's & Home Depot beat their tools/garden/paints. BBY & others beat their appliances/electronics/housewares. Kohl's & others beat them on men's clothes, and I'm told that women generally don't want to purchase their clothes in what they perceive to be a hardware store. I still go to Sears occasionally, but it's rarely my first choice for anything.

Sears could be turned around. I could turn them around. I bet you could, too. But, yeah - management would never buy-in. They'd have to go.

K-Mart...no. They can't beat Wal-Mart on price, and they'll never be able to move up-market to compete with Target. They lost their niche. If they were smart, they would've figured out a way to leverage all of that positive publicity from the layaway-angel phenomenon. Instead, they come out and announce that sales are down and they're closing stores. They're not even trying.

So many of these big retail dinosaurs just don't get it. You're right, they are stuck in a rut, and the execs are just too completely clueless and out of touch to figure out how to turn things around for themselves (I'm looking at you too Best Buy). Very sad, there are so many businesses that just don't know how to adapt in this very different era.

Sears should just go straight hardware and appliance. It's the only thing they do right. Axe the Blue light and get lean and mean.

It is almost like they WANT to go out of business so they can file bankruptcy or something. Maybe that is the execs master plan. ???

Yeah, Unfortunately Wal-Mart is kicking almost everyone's arses these days. Good for Wally, but it sucks as far as competition goes.

Who will be around to keep them in check? Wal-Mart is almost turning into a Monopoly.

Your right. Not a bad idea learning Chinese. It is starting to really get to that point. The Chinese always said that they would take over the U.S. without even having to fire so much as a bullet.

K-Mart has been doomed for years. They were one of the stores that had a chance to take down Wal-Mart years ago but chose to do nothing.

I laughed out loud at this. Thank you for that.

I agree K-Mart is and has been crap for a very long time. Ad why Sears thought buying them would make things better for both is still beyond me.

Walmart has become the devil for sure. It gave birth to the modern Chinese manufacturing boom. Sad really. Sam Walton was a very Pro-Buy American kind of guy. To the current board and CEO I ask "How much profit do you really need?"

And as far as China goes, yeah they've pretty much won unless something huge happens withe the US economy. Honestly they could leverage their currency above the dollar already but our saving grace is that they have to have our (yours and mine via walmart) money to keep their economy flowing. Despite it all if we American's don't buy their stuff they have nothing.

In the end the fact remains; if manufacturing doesn't return to the US in some forms we're done as far as 'life as we know it', I don't see us failing but the way things are doe on a day to day basis will be unrecognizable in twenty years.

So the solution? Beats the heck out of me. If I knew the answer believe me when I say that I would have already made a crappy video about it.

Sears has gone the way of the dinosaur....it's business practices are so outdated now...plus their employees don't care about customer service (nothing but rudeness there), I swear...I almost had a nervous breakdown trying to return a bad fridge...they are the worst...I was so mad...I left their crap there...and went to Lowe's instead...I'm shocked they are still in business.

Really...I'm not shedding any tears for Sears...good riddance.

As far as jobs for the American people are concerned I think the same thing. This outcome will effect American lives one way or another. It will even efffect other countries as well. And you can bet it will not be for the better.

It already has effected a lot of people here in the US to some degree as the jobs continue to disapear. Jobs definitely needs to be created here in the US instead of losing them.

Without diving into the political aspect of things here I think the good majority of us know what really needs to be done. There needs to be more action and less talk.
