Do you celebrate the Twelve days of Christmas?

When I was growing up my Folks would from December 25-January 6 celebrated the traditional 12 days of Christmas. First day was the traditional American version of Christmas but everyday after that we lit a candle for each day and did something together as a family and received very small gifts.

On the Eve of January 5th, my sister and I following the tradition of that our parents had. we would put straw or hay and water in a shoebox put it under our beds on the morning of January 6th traditionally know as the Epiphany, we woke up the boxes would be gone and we had what we called our second Christmas or little christmas. One gift each wrapped......in my old neighborhood there would be a great celebration and a parade.

I still continue the tradition with my own children to this day.

Does anyone else do their own version of the Twelve days of Christmas?

We never did the 12 days of Christmas stuff ... But we did celebrate both Dec 25 and January 7 (Jan 7 is Ukrainian Christmas)

Jan 7 we would have a nice meal (like Christmas) but thats about it -- no gift swapping etc.

No not really. Sometimes i guess. But it would be cool to try for twelve not three days.

                        Absolutely!

We have always celebrated up to Epiphany. I scratch my head over how we are inundated with Christmas music starting mid-November and it quits after the very first day of the traditional Christmas season.

You'd think the retailers would catch onto this and try to milk it for all it's worth...

So true, for me the next twelve days is Christmas. I feel the Holiday more. I was in Manhattan yesterday with friends and the city was still very alive with tourist and people still shopping......

No, I never do, although I do keep the tree up til around Jan. 5th, but that's 'cos I hate to take it down. My niece and I had Christmas dinner last night (the 26th) b/c she was w/ her gramma on the 25th.

'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."
