When I was growing up my Folks would from December 25-January 6 celebrated the traditional 12 days of Christmas. First day was the traditional American version of Christmas but everyday after that we lit a candle for each day and did something together as a family and received very small gifts.
On the Eve of January 5th, my sister and I following the tradition of that our parents had. we would put straw or hay and water in a shoebox put it under our beds on the morning of January 6th traditionally know as the Epiphany, we woke up the boxes would be gone and we had what we called our second Christmas or little christmas. One gift each wrapped......in my old neighborhood there would be a great celebration and a parade.
I still continue the tradition with my own children to this day.
Does anyone else do their own version of the Twelve days of Christmas?
