i think it has much to do about the recent auction and people looking for the cards to sell possiblily. I noticed one person posted about " how do I get cards" and it was his first post.
It's hard on a free board to know the true intensions on anyone with only a few posts. like , on ebay , i try not to buy from people i don't know or have a track record.
I know on startiger ( formerly stararchive) they have a great " trader and reputation system " that seems to work well.
Like i say when I train new employees, everyone has a " first" so you have to understand and give some ground.

I'm not sure about his exact name, but it was something similar to that.

The atronempire incident was this ONE post newbie with Megos priced that were just too good to be true. I'm talking something like a mint loose Wonder Girl for about $100 or something like that.

I placed $300 worth of orders...and I was stupid enough to send him money.

Other Museum Member did the same thing.

Well, guess what, it did turn out too good to be true.

Needthless to say, antronempire turned out to be this young spoiled rich kid (through some detective work, members here found out where he lived, it was practically a mansion in a very exclusive neighborhood) who didn't own any Megos and had practically stolen our money.

Appearantly, he had been doing this routine on other toy forums too, not just Megos.

But again, thanks to great savy members, they located the young thief, informed his parents, and by some miracle, we all got our money back from them.

I hope they beat their lad into a bloody pulp (I think he was like 17 years old or something).

Thanks to that experience, I don't ever deal with ONE post newbies in the Marketplace forum until I see them very active on the other forums and establish themselves that way. That's why I get very distrustful with these ONE post newbies suddenly popping in all the time, no introductions, and no pictures of what they are selling (no prices as well).

Anyway guys, I hope you now understand why.

      Thanks.

When did this "atronempire" incedent happen, because I don't think I jioned when it happened.
My heighten mutant sense never lies..........................................This ain't lemonade.

Csstuba, it may be that tone is hard to read sometimes in posts, but you are coming across to me as someone getting annoyed at stuff unrelated to the point of this thread.
I have been here for about 6 months, and each day I grow more knowledgeable and trusting due to the good-hearted and good-smarted people on this site. Stick around and you'll see what I mean.

I haven't said anything about this subject until now.

Speaking just for myself, I don't buy from or trade with any new members.

To be 100% honest, I don't trust anyone until they earn my trust-- which means---time served on the Museum.

If that makes me a bad guy-- then so be it.

                  I make no apologies

                  A bit off topic.......
Anyone remember shortly after 9-11.... the new member who tried to sell his common Treks on the Museum for a dumb high amount claiming he needed the money because his whole family was killed in the Towers ?
After nobody bit, he came back over and over 'till he finally blew--after about 6 months.

If someone's first post is a sale post that offers something I want at a decent price, and they have pictures that don't look like they were snagged off eBay, I would definitely consider buying from them.

We get too many "one post" sellers to shun them all automatically, and most are honest people who'd rather sell within a proven community of collectors than to eBay's seething masses. If they take the time to seek us out, register, and post their items for sale in a way that doesn't seem to hide anything, I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt.

I have to agree with this, I have in the past bought from one post sellers and gotten exactly what I was offered.

It's kind of admirable when people take the time to offer the item here before Ebay and we shouldn't discourage this practice.

Oh, I don't discourage this practice one single bit.

I think a lot of Museum members make some great successful deals dealing with new low post sellers/traders.
I also think the sellers/traders also get what they want too-- which is a deal... and perhaps a longtime Museum relationship.
Just speaking for myself, i'm just a bit chicken to be the first to test the waters with new members/traders.

When I first placed an add in marketplace--- back in 2001-ish...
Only one member answered it and we did a deal.
