Anyone have a favorite long gone video store they used to go to?
I loved my local ma/pa video rental

The owner was about 20 years old and a big horror fan

He usued to always recommend movies I should see.

    The guy always picked winners

Always loved the scene where Randi Brooks got "hot flashes"

Hamburger: The Motion Picture looks amazing! I have to see that!

Oh man, we might have to do a whole separate list if we want to start adding 80s horror/sex/comedies. Blood Diner and Street Trash come to mind. Not to mention all the early Troma movies.

Or from another whole sub-grouping.. 80s film in which a nerd/nice boy becomes a pimp:

Am I the only one in the world who thinks "A Beautiful Mind" was garbage, and Ron Howard should have gotten his Oscar for "Night Shift"?

I heartily disagree... But Only because I'd take Daryl Hannah over a dozen Shelly Longs.

And if Johnny depp ever deserved an Oscar...

Oh, I'll take "Splash" over almost anything Ron Howard has directed. Eugene Levy deserved an Oscar for his roll in that movie too.

There is a dark side to all this...
Back in the day, I actually went to movies to see:

I always considered Stripes as Bill Murray's biggest stand alone movie (I consider Ghostbusters more of an ensemble movie)

Did anyone mention Up the Academy?

                          1980 with Ralph Macchio.

                          My favorite line:

Tickle your A** with a feather?
                          WHAT DID YOU SAY??
                          Uh, Particularly nasty weather!!

I never saw "Up The Academy", but I know it was directed by Robert Downey Sr. and initially had some connection to MAD Magazine, because they were trying to do what National Lam**** did with "Animal House".
