    Anybody into Punk Music?

Even though I am 44 I still love the Punk Music. Used to play Bass guitar in a Punk Band when I was 17.

    Fav bands were
    UK Subs
    Dead Kennedys
The Partisans (a Welsh Band who lived a couple of miles from me and actually had an Album that was in the charts when the charts actually meant something)
    Stiff Little Fingers
    The Exploited

I like some--Sex Pistols, Buzzcocks, Husker Du, The Replacements--stuff like that. Thing is, I'm not even sure what punk is--those guys are supposed to be punk, but the Mats just sound like rock to me. Is At the Drive-In considered punk?

Just a tidbit...Been on a Ultravox kick these days and while reading Midge Ure's Wiki page it says that he turned down Malcolm McLaren's request to be the lead in the Sex Pistols:

" In 1975 Ure turned down an offer to be the lead singer of the Sex Pistols, stating that he felt at the time that Malcolm McLaren had "his priorities completely wrong!"

Seems that Ure played with the former bassist for the Pistols, Glen Matlock, in the group called The Rich Kids.

Wouldn't have worked if Midge would have accepted it. Too polished both musically and stylistically. I mean let's face it...the Pistols looked exactly how they sounded. Raw and unfiltered.

The closest I think I come to Punk would be that I like The Clash. If you ever want to see a great documentary on them and Joe Strummer watch "The Future Is Unwritten".
"When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
              The beauty that surrounds them
              Isn't it a pity".

              - "Isn't It A Pity"
              By George Harrison

                          >I'm not even sure what punk is

There's a lot of debate over this. (If you get the chance I recommend the film "American Hardcore.")

I'm not a huge fan, but I like the Dropkick Murphys, NOFX (both kinda "neo-punk") and although I don't like any of his actual bands I think Henry Rollins is brillinat.

I like Corproate Avenger too.... but they exist in that nebulous space between punk/thrash/death metal/etc.

Mostly into late 80's/early 90's stuff like Supersuckers, Dwarves, Laughing Hyenas, Big Chief, Jesus Lizard, Lungfish. But I also like a bunch of the classic stuff like Black Flag, Circle Jerks, Meatmen, Social Distortion, Sex Pistols, Bad Brains.

This week's new arrivals on vinyl:
                            Circle Jerks: Group Sex
Circle Jerks: Wild in the Streets
                            Circle Jerks: VI
Corrosion of Conformity: Eye For an Eye

And if any of you have old band shirts ya wanna get rid of drop me a line, they're my new collecting obsession.
