"Infinite Jest" by David Foster Wallace, based on a recommendation.

It's hurting my brain and I'm about to give up after struggling with it for weeks. I read a review online saying something like "I thought it was the worst book ever, but I got to page 150 and it started becoming one of my favorite books." so I ran to check what page I was at - only page 80 (it's just over 1000 pages long, and I don't think that includes the foot notes - yeah, it's got friggin' foot notes!)

I can only read a few pages a night - each chapter (I'm not even sure they're chapters really) is about anther character, usually in another time and place - often the narrator changes with each part - and there isn't anything establishing each new setting, you're just left on your own to try and figure out what's going on.

Anyway - I read before I go to bed, so I'll give it another couple of nights - but unless I can figure out why everyone is so crazy about this thing it might end up in the trash.

Maybe someone here has read it and can give me some encouragement?

Not reading, per se, but right now addicted to the Will Shortz edited NY Times Crossword books. I'm amazed at how much I can solve without a crossword dictionary.
        It's all good!

Tea Money by Tom Bleecker ex husband of linda lee , bruce lee's wife. his book is about:

While writing the biography of a deceased international megastar whose death was ruled an accident by misadventure, a former street reporter battles a powerful asian crime syndicate when he discovers that the celebrity was murdered and that his widow, under the threat of death, has become an accomplice in the murder cover-up and the victim of extortion.

            very suspenseful and goes quickly!

Right now, I'm just finishing up "Watch You Bleed: The Saga of Guns N' Roses" by Stephen Davis (who's Led Zeppelin bio, "Hammer of the Gods" I'm a huge fan of, and have re-read many times). The GNR book is almost as good, this guy can really write a very interesting rock band bio.

Oh yeah, both of those are great, and are totally re-readable (think I've read both at least three times and are about due for another )

Well I am definitely the odd duck here, I am once again reading one of my all-time favorites Vanity Fair. I have worn out multiple copies of it along with Pride and Prejudice.

I didn't realize a new one came out! I'll have to check it out.

I think the last Zahn Star Wars book I read was actually a clone wars era book with Annikan and Obi Wan, and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Often the joy of Zahn is the way he writes his antagonists.

My first few volumes of Tansmetropolitan are on loan to a friend who digs both Planetary and Hunter S Thompson.

If he does get around to reading them, perhaps we'll have something to chat about next week.

Really like Bruce Campbells book to.
I didnt know there was a new Zahn starwars book out either. I really liked the ones with original cast from the mid-nineties. Good writer.
Im really wanting a ipad but i would have to save up for awhile for that! The screen is nice and large enough for digital comics and ebooks.
