Thanks, guys. Seriously. I was starting to think something was seriously wrong with me, getting all these colds and such, but I guess it's pretty normal. I just hate being sick for the holidays!

Joe, your k-gardener must not have been attending preschool. All of my children go to preschool, and that's where they picked up all of the bugs and started building up their immunity. They were sick through most of their preschool years and brought lots of diseases home. By the time they got to kindergarten, they were pretty immune to a lot of bugs. Now the two in elementary school rarely get sick.

Just make sure you wash your hands frequently and make sure to rinse your hands for longer than 10 seconds after the initial soapdown (if you sing happy birthday to yourself while rinsing, you probably would have hit the 15 seconds). Other things to consider: avoid touching your face, teach the kids to cough or sneeze on their upper arm instead of in their hands, and get lots of rest and fluids.

(I tried to post this yesterday, but AOL wasn't cooperating!)

When I first started teaching in 1984, I had pink eye 5 times, and tonsilitis 4 times during the course of 1 year. But I built up an immunity, and rarely get sick now. But my resistance must be low, b/c I've had a wicked cold for going on 3 weeks. But I've been taken Zicam, Emergen-C, and lots of liquids. I REFUSE TO BE SICK FOR CHRISTMAS!!

Yeah, I've been there and I have been feeling pretty ill myself off and on the past few weeks.

I know I personally have a weak immune system and even though I get flu shots every year, I still seem to catch it.

My kids hardly get sick ever but must carry the germs on them. There is a nasty case of Mononucleosis going around where I live.

We thought our son had it, had blood work done, but it came back negative.

He was out of school for 3 days and was the first time he has been sick in years.
