Plus I think Christina Hendricks is hot!!

They made her look OK in the movie...they gave her a semi-homely look for the movie. The leading lady...Carey Mulligan...was made up to look much cuter on screen.

      *****SPOILERS!!!*****

Yes...the character of Gosling was a badarse...however...if he was such a badarse, why didn't he anticipate the character of Albert Brooks move? You would think he knew that was coming...he let his guard down too easily...I just didn't buy that moment.

      *****END OF SPOILERS!!!*****

Word on the 80s post-disco identity crisis font. I really can't get over what a great choice it was! Such a great opportunity to make the film's themes come through, and it was not missed.

About the spoiler moment, Hec, I think that he did know. He told Irene that he wouldn't be coming back for a long time, and that was right before meeting Bernie in the Chinese restaurant. Plus, he had the knife ready to retaliate when they were at the car trunk.

Yeah...the movie was very "atmospheric" in nature...loved the pace too...not a mindless and brainless action flick...it had style...and Gosling was one bad mofo...he might go down in movie history as a top ten badarse...a man of few words (most of his acting was with pure facial expressions, like Steve McQueen in Bullitt, brilliant)...I get tired of Johnny Depp this, Johnny Depp that...Depp is a wimp compared to Gosling...

true, I do enjoy Johnny Depp, but he gets so many roles that he is almost played out by now. . . .if not already. . . .

I think I have only started to like him again because my son and I started playing LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean on Playstation, and the minifig looks just like Depp as Jack Sparrow. . . .and he is funny!

I can't believe Gosling was a Mouseketeer...prancing along with the likes of Britanny Spears, Christina Aguilera...and Justin Timberlake.

Here are both Gosling and Timberlake...

I haven't seen this movie, but I have seen a few of Jodorowsky's. Does anyone know why/how this movie would be a tribute to him?
You are transparent; I see many things... I see plans within plans.

naw i love Depp, they're just completely different...I could'nt see Depp playing that character or Ryan playing Sparrow

Ryan would be much cooler as a Clint eastwood type character

I guess how they stylized the film...avant-garde...surreal at times...brooding...and ultra-violent...a bit like Jodorowsky's films such as el Topo and Santa Sangre...at least that how I interpreted it.

You know...after reading up more on this film...it was never intended as a blockbuster...it's an independent low-budget film...only $13 million to produce...and it has already grossed $30 million...so it's already a big success...so my thread title turned out to be a bit inaccurate/misleading.
