It all depends on what you are watching on the HDTV. I have one for the small room in my house and I watch a lot of sports on it. If you are a sports fan, then HD is the way to go. Nothing like watching a sporting event on HDTV. When looking at TV shows you just have to remember that when you go from your HD Channels back to the regular channels you have to change the settings on the TV dimensions...unless you like looking at stretched out picture. Not every channel has a HD channel. Learning that as I go. Haven't watched anything from a DVD or Bluray yet on the HD set...so I can't give a comparison on that yet.

It's not nessasary to look at non HD material stretched on on HDTV. You can set the TV to play SD material "pillerboxed" (black bars on both sides of the image to compensate for it not being as wide as the HDTV ratio). I have my TV set that way and hate the stretching most others do to make sure the screen is filled.
Today's TV's do this automatically (autoset for when there is an HD signal and when there is an SD signal) so adjustment is not needed when switching between signals.
Most HD cable boxes and blu rays players also ought to be able to display SD and HD on your TV in the proper ratio automatically.Last edited by mego73; Sep 25, '11, 10:06 PM.Comment
