I would love to see smaller shops open once again. I know it's not very likely, but if the big guys are failing someone has to step up.

I'm OK with buying at Best Buy...I just don't dig their incessant service plan pushing on customers...but I have mastered the art of saying no...so it's all fine by me.

An extremely popular electronic store chain in California is Fry's Electronics.

Fry's is known not only for their huge stores...but also its funky and trippy themes...sci-fi. monsters, Aztec & Maya pyramids, ancient Rome, California God Rush, Wild West, etc...

It's all fine and dandy...but the reason I don't go there often...is that Fry's has a shady history...if you care to read...here it is...

I hate the way they have their DVD's set up too. But I believe the move to Blu-ray is more a reaction to the industry than anything. Blu ray is becoming THE preferred means of viewing. So stores, like BestBuy, who are accustom to carrying huge volumes are probably having to scale down to avoid getting caught with a huge overstock of movies in an undesirable format.

We own an apartment building and Best Buy is almost always the cheapest place for appliances. Comparing apples to apples, they beat out the big-box, home-improvement stores,...at least in my neck of the woods. ABC Warehouse is sometimes a little better price-wise, but Best Buy will match their flyer price.
