I don't think Rush should on the worst list, because musically they're very gifted, but Gedde Lee(sp?) is like nails on a chalkboard for me.

All grunge bands are at the top of the 'worst' list for me. I was in college at the time grunge was big, and I still did not get into it.
VAN HALEN with David Lee Roth was the greatest band ever. Their first album is my favorite album of all time. Runnin with the Devil, Ice Cream Man, Jamie's Crying.
Don't you guys be bad mouthin' ABBA. They were f'ing awesome in their own way!
I'm not a big Bon Jovi fan, but Living on a Prayer is one of the greatest rock anthems of all time. Reminds me of weight lifting in high school. A real pump you up song.Comment

>How dare a couple of yous list Rush on your worst five????????????
BWAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!!!!! And I'm CANADIAN too!!!!!
Had a friend who LOVED these guys, so I was exposed to them a lot more than I wanted to be. Actually; when I was at the U it seemed that EVERYONE loved these guys. If it wasn't for that I'd probably hate them a lot less.
But I gotta say, the WORST band EVER; bar none, has got to be.......
GOATLORD. Buit I didin't mention them 'cos I don't think anyone else her ehas heard of them.
(Watch: someone's cousin'll end up being the frontman or somesuch....)

In my neighbourhood, if you heard Rush music, you ran. That's because it was usually coming out of a van populated by lumber jack coat wearing teens with receding hairlines and moustaches, who took pleasure in beating up younger kids (like me). I'm not sure if I don't like Rush or if it's that memory that bugs me.
My Top Five:
1) Ramones
2) The Animals
3) Nirvana
4) The Hives
5) Cracker
My Worst
1) Good Charlotte
2) Limp Bizkit
3) Extreme
4) Great Big Sea
5) Bon JoviPlaces to find PlaidStallions online: https://linktr.ee/Plaidstallions

I can tolerate Rush in very small doses only because I find their brand of dungeons and dragons sci fi screech prog mildly amusing.
Rush's most annoying contribution to "culture" has been Neal Peart's influence on legions of really bad drummers--much the way Eddie Van Halen inspired a shload of awful guitarists.......Comment

WORST:
Guns N Roses (Maybe if Axle sang more like he did on Patience instead of screeching everything)
Miami Sound Machine (I absolutely HATE Gloria Estafan - there is absolutely nothing original about her voice, no emotion in any of her songs, it's pure manufactured garbage!)
The Knack (I could go the rest of my life without ever hearing My Sharona again, too bad it seems to be on every 80s compilation ever made).
New Kids on the Block (Probably responsible for starting the whole whiney Boy Band epidemic.)
Beastie Boys (How exactly did these guys get into the music business?)
BEST (based on originality & actual talent):
The Beatles
Pink Floyd
Eagles
Queen

Well, after reading all of the posts on here, the first thing that I notice is most bands listed (best and worst) are from the 60s, 70s and 80s. There were a couple from the 90s listed on a few "worst" lists, but not a single band that formed after the year 2000 made anyone's list for best or worst. With the POSSIBLE exception of Stryper and Goatlord, I'd rather listen to any band on anyone's 'worst' list than almost every band that's come out in the last few years - and I'd even rather listen to Goatlord than any songs by the current rap / hip-hop / R&B / urban (or whatever it's called these days) which I am regularly forced to listen to. Consider yourselves lucky that when you think of the worst bands you can imagine, 98 Degrees and Air Supply come to mind and not Black Eyed Peas or any song who's artist is listed as 'someone' featuring 'someone else'.
Side notes:
Kingdom Come: I'd rather have a band who's just a copy of Led Zeppelin than a band who's just a copy of Creed (90% of chart topping rock bands after 1997).
The Sex Pistols: Not as much of a manufactured band as their manager, Malcolm Mclauren, would have you believe. Love 'em or hate 'em, they were actually relatively talented musicians (with the exception of replacement bassist, Sid Vicious)
The Monkeys: Peter Tork and Mike Nesmith were both accomplished musicians before they were hired to be on the show. Manufactured group? Yes, but talented nonetheless.
If you do just want to talk about horrible bands from the 60s - 80s, check out The Shaggs (YouTube - The Shaggs ) then have another look at your list.Nostalgia just ain’t what it used to be.Comment

Before anyone says something like, "oh, sure that band The Shaggs is horrible, but we're just talking about REAL bands" I would just like to mention that The Shaggs were signed to RCA Records.Nostalgia just ain’t what it used to be.Comment

>There were a couple from the 90s listed on a few "worst" lists, but not a single band that formed after the year 2000 made anyone's list for best or worst.
Interesting point.... I know for myself most 90's bands really don't register. The whole grunge/alternative thing took over pretty quick, and I found it to be really low-impact. Not bad enough to hate, not good enough to care. Same with the last few years of rappers; it's all SOOOO formula and pat that it hits me with the force of a commercial jingle.
Big Rude Jake is one of my faves; and they came out in the 90's.... but they're pretty "under the radar." In the last year or so I'd have to add Disturbed and The Creepshow to my list, and both are fairly recent bands. And it was the last year or so that I first heard Nightwish, so they'd be added now.
>I'd rather have a band who's just a copy of Led Zeppelin than a band who's just a copy of Creed
HAW! Although that kind of choice is kinda like saying "I'd rather be stabbed in the right kidney, instead of the left."
