"Fat Boyz Christmas" is worse than "Grandma..."!!!!!! I like to listen to the radio station that plays 24 hour Christmas songs from Thanksgiving to Christmas. This is the first Christmas it has been played along with all the other classics, acting like its a classic itself.

At least Ernie didn't mention Christmas Monkey...

.......what I really can't stand is the fact that every shop, lift, radio station and P.A. system plays these songs constantly..

It's the Ghost of Christmas Threads Past!!!

Okay the George Micheal/Wham "Last Christmas" song has now replaced Wings as my least favorite. It was a crappy song to begin with, but I have two all-Christmas songs in my listening area, and both play it ad nauseum.

Who honestly thinks it's worthy of such airplay?

Oh and Christmas Shoes has got of play this year too. Sappiest song ever recorded.

I personally detest the Christmas Shoes song- what a hokey load of baloney!

Christmas songs should be a happy & bouncy- so I gotta go against popular opinion and say I like the McCartney song. Holly Jolly Christmas by Burl Ives is my favorite.

And along these very lines of bad feelings from Christmas songs, may I direct you to this blog entry from comic book artist Ethan Van Sciver about just that topic? EVS' articles crack me up- he's very funny!

I also will admit that I like the Paul McCartney WC. "Run over by a reindeer" and "Christmas shoes" I cannot stand. There is also a local song for Baltimore called "I want crabs for Xmas" That one is awwwwfullll! Also I heard some song called Dominic the Italian Christmas Donkey. Blah.
                It's all good!

That's by Lou Monte....his "Pepino the Italian Mouse" is a much superior novelty record.

Oh come on...that's what makes Christmas for me...the songs.

I love all the classics, We Wish You A Merry Christmas, Jingle Bells, Little Drummer Boy, Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, Silent Night, Let it Snow, Feliz Navidad, and anything from the Peanuts gang.

                    I LOVE all those songs!

the funy thing is that some of the ghastly songs you guys have mentioned have never even been heard of here! so they would make a refreshing change to hear some of them

althogh i dont mind a bit of mariah carey her song all i want for xmas is getting on my tit bits now, its used on a tv advert for selling sofas and its on like every interval

another one getting over played this year is ... its beginning to look a lot like xmas everywhere you go! but thats all you hear, i have no idea what the rest of the song sounds like as they only play that snippet over and over

and lets be honest here guys, you hate all this band aid stuff, but i bet after a couple of jars your all there arm in arm belting it out

                      feed tha wooooorrrllld

                      dont lie!

must admit it starts to feel a bit like xmas when that bing crosby and david bowie one comes on... rup a pum pum or something like that

Grandma got Runover by a Reindeer, Christmas in Hollis by RUN DMC, that Bruce version of Santa Clause is coming to town.

I love the McCartney song. It's a simple melody with siple lyrics, like most of his songs, but it is catchy.

I also love the Twisted Sister Christmas album that came out a few years ago.

I hate all novelty Christmas songs. I can handle most traditional songs, if they're done by someone who can at least sing and uses semi-traditional arrangements. However, when recent pop stars sing new Christmas-themed songs, I just get annoyed. Very few can pull those off. Right now the Christmas albums in heavy rotation here are the "White Christmas" soundtrack, "Christmas with Dino," and of course, "A Charlie Brown Christmas." The only part of the Dean Martin album that bothers me is "Baby It's Cold Outside," because they put Martina McBride's vocals into it long after Martin died. It's not a bad track, but it kind of bugs me. I wish I could hear the original recording before they altered it.

Del, the original version is pretty close to the McBride remake. There is of course a female singer responding to all of Dino's come-ons in the song. For McBride's version, they just made her vocals a bit louder. I do prefer the original version. Kind of like that strange version of Sinatra's "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" where they inserted Cyndi Lauper (!) vocals.

Can't these artist find any living singers to duet with?

Sorry guys, still can't stand that annoying synth-sound on that McCartney song. A monkey and a 1985 Casio keyboard could make a merrier sound.

I'm sure that basically IS a 1985 Casio keyboard ---or its 1979 equivalent!

That's one of the things I love about it....the cheesy sound.

Like a big guy in a red costume isn't cheesy? It's perfect!

That song is so unique....and that synth is a huge part of that uniqueness
---it turns you off---but "not merry"? It sounds merry enough to me...
like a cartoon effect...at least that's how I hear it.

To each their own...but I'll stick up for that song every year
"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris Mannix
