More Netflix Woes

Could've been a temporary glitch. I know a few months ago they listed South Park as expiring at the end of the month when in fact the current set was expiring and replaced with a set with more episodes.

well, what the heck...
Mike, I swear that stuff was gone.
My kid and I went over the south park stuff with a fine tooth comb.
I logged onto my iPad just now and infact, I now see all episodes.
I wonder if it was just bad luck when we searched - at the same time they were restructuring?

mkay. one SMALL apology to Netflix from this guy.

We primarily use AppleTV (gen2).
From what I gather, netflix has to re-encode their stuff to work on it.
There's a long list of complaints (last time I read Apple forums) about audio/video sync issues.
If we watch a 2hr movie - once, maybe twice, it will pause...annnnd a few seconds later it catches up.
American Dad is notoriously bad for us, whereas South park is perfect.
American Dad will just get so out of sync...it's like the video skips a whole 5 minutes. If you hit rewind for just a few seconds, it makes it all happy.
We don't have that issue via the iPad, Xbox, PS3.
And I have bought a second AppleTV and the same issue persists.
AppleTV is our primarily source of entertainment as I have begun transfering our dvd library to my iTunes.

HBO decided from the start it would not put its content on Netflix. Their thinking, and it makes sense to me, is that if people can get all the movies and original HBO programming on Netflix, who would pay for an HBO subscription? So instead they released HBO Go, which is their own service for streaming content. I would not be surprised if this isn't just a case of Starz following HBO's lead here... I bet we see more of this.

I personally think Redbox is killing off alot of the competition.

True but they are also looking into the streaming model as well. There are demos being done.

My big complaint is lack of older and independent movies with them.

Agreed. That's why I don't use that service as much and use Neftlix.

Netfilx really ticked me off with their new pricing and tiers. I wouldn't mind streaming if they actually had something worth watching and had better quality.

Agreed. That's why I want to leave Netflix but they do have good indie stuff. Apple TV is pricier. Some other services are being knocked down by the studios.

Starz going away won't bother me, I rarely watch anything from it anyway. Netflix seems to be adding more stuff all the time, so there is always something to watch. I dumped the by mail part and went to streaming only. If Hulu would work right on my player I'd be set.

Agreed. I don't use Netflix for anything from Starz so it won't bother me. I have only ever had the streaming account, never did the DVD in the mail part. I love Netflix. We all use it. Brad Jr. can watch something on the laptop while Maggy watches the TV in the living room while I watch the TV in the bedroom. I also use it here at work to keep me company on my many late nights. I have always thought that it is a heck of a bang for the buck in our situation.
