In a sense, this isn't a reflection of Hollywood as much as it is a reflection of us- the people who go to see movies. This is a list of which movies had the most votes (tickets bought) from the public.

I agree with you that Super 8 was a very well-done, exciting and fun film. Maybe even my favorite this year.

And, UpingOnce, you nailed the reason for Cars 2.

My thoughts exactly.
I have only seen the first one. I watched it with my roommate at the time. I told her early in the movie that if he turns out to be a cop i will never watch another minute. As soon as it is revealed i have stuck to my promise. And what is the deal with Vin Disel? What do people see in him? His acting is so blah and he is just a thug in my eyes.

It came out shortly after the last Wrestlemania with all of the going on between The Rock and John Cena. Cena was bad mouthing all of the movies The Rock was in,my guess is all of The Rock's fans showed up to disprove Cena.

What's REALLY frightening, KM, is that, according to BOM's all-time list, SUPER 8 is about to get overtaken by, of all things, the freakin' SMURFS!!!

To add further to my irritation, THE HELP doesn't seem to want to go away.

But, on a positive note, it DOES look like GREEN LANTERN will AT LEAST pass up GHOST RIDER on the all time list, so there is that....!

I love X-Men- First Class and am disappointed it didn't break the list. I can't believe Cars made it as everyone I talked to said it was a bad Pixar movie. Guess the kids are liking it.

Nice try though...

And that is gross box office, too. WB only gets at best 55 % of that. That'd be like loaning out 10 bucks and only getting 5 in return. Not a good investment.
