Vin Diesel + marketing = 100 million plus every time.

He's got the acting range of Don Knotts, but he's still a draw into his forties. Whatever that Babylon film was never took off cause nobody knew about it. He's got two, maybe three more films like this in his utility belt before the career is over. I kinda like the guy, but 209 million? Maybe it was the Rock.

Here are my personal top films thus far... Hector just close your eyes and imagine that magical pooch calling to you.

              1) Rise of the Planet of the Apes - You could not have paid me to rank this at number one three weeks ago, but it's true. Before this opened, I never thought anyone would be able to make such a beautiful and emotional film out of such an overworked concept. It's an incredible achievement.

              2) X-Men- First Class - Same category with a similar result. Brilliant script and casting from a series I thought may be dying out. It now has new life.

              3) Thor - Before this opened, I was concerned whether this concept could be pulled off without collapsing into camp. It was a great film. Everyone cast and portrayed perfectly. I hope they make five of these films. I love Thor.

              4) Green Lantern - Yeah, I know. I know...But here's the truth. Green Lantern is a fine film. No film has made me feel more like a kid than this one has this summer. Emeraldknight and myself have seen it more than any other film. Three times I think. Alot of people placed too much expectation on a concept that is pretty simple. That concept was covered and many of the primary players were introduced. I think a lot of folks will get what they were looking for with the sequel.

              5) Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides - No one touches Depp. His character is great and the stories are both fun and compelling. This installment is no different. It was a great film and I love the mermaids! Can't wait to get this on DVD!

              6) Captain America - This is a good film and has beautiful cinematography. But it suffers from a villain that looks the part but never really offers a serious threat to Cap. That and Bucky is reduced to little more than a footnote, which seriously alters the significance of Cap's icy "sleep" at the end. Overall a fun film, but it could have been better on a number of fronts.

I have to agree with everything you just said MIB41 and I think I even agree with the ranking order. all great movies and I am looking forward to bluray releases for them all. i might add Harry Potter in there as a tie with Apes for number 1 though

                    I can't believe Cars 2 is at number 6. I've heard it's such a stinker of a movie.

I read somewhere that the original Pixar Cars was the least money-maker for the company but that it was the greatest for sold merchandice. Probably because of all the others, it appealed to the young boy market... toys, sheets and curtains, coloring books, etc...

They made this one because of that.

Fast 5 Was a Fantastic Movie ...... The Rock's Best Role to Date. I've seen like 7 Movies this Summer ..., and Fast 5 Is Tied with Cap in my # 1 Spot.

From the look of that list i take it that intellectual films don't make any money.
