No ammo Mike. I don't think Police in the UK ordinarily carry guns. They have batons and tear gas I think. They do it real: hand-to-hand.

The market is up today, but the health of the world economy is horrible. Banks are having trouble trusting one another with their books. And some Asian banks have cut off credit to French banks. If our governments don't come together and learn some fiscal responsibility, these riots will only spread to other countries. People are hurting and governments are not do anything to rebuild their own infrastructures. There is too much reliance on other countries to bail each other out. The work has to come from within.
^^^^ This! Communities are under a lot of strain, all it needed was an excuse for someone to light a match. But there have been a lot of sick individuals who have joined the fray. If you haven't already seen this, you will not believe how low humanity has sunk.

In addition, tasers are becoming more widely issued to UK police forces.

These events bring to mind the unrest in France a few years ago, and in Greece last year.
In each instance the initial spark was the death of a person during a police operation.

The resentment that many in these countries feel towards authorities such as their governments and their police, coupled with heightned expectations of what their lives should be like, compared to the reality, have produced these results.

Add in a government scandal, with Brit MPs themselves effectively stealing from the taxpayer, govenment cuts to youth programs, and entrenched generational unemployment, and it is almost no surprise.

Don't get me wrong, the violence, arson, and looting of the mob is disgusting. I feel very sorry for people whose neighbourhoods and businesses have been damaged or destroyed.

It's really sad and stupid, especially the news that three young men were run down and killed while trying to defend their neighbourhood.

Or maybe being part of a mob is just hardwired into humans....
                      I don't know.

I think that's true under the right conditions

Nazi Germany is kind of proof of that.

Yep, being in big group, crowd mentality can have very powerful pull on people. You can sort of 'lose yourself' in the crowd, or get a powerful addrenaline rush running amok in big group.

There is also the sense of being invulnerable when you're part of a mob, which sort of explains some of the things that can happen once violent unrest begins.

It has been a crazy time over here and something I never thought would happen in the UK. These people have just used the excuse of a person being shot to go and bring misery to the streets. Lives have been lost and livelyhoods have been taken away. I have lucky enough not to have been caught up in any of the rioting personally but have seen the aftermath; a lot of shops boarded up and burnt out. It's a truly sad sight and my heart goes out to the shop keepers and their families. A lot of them are lucky to be alive as they live above the shops that were set alight.

It just shows how low certain parts of society have sunk. They use the excuse of not being able to get work or blame foreigners coming in and stealing jobs from them. I'd be surprised if any of those morons have actively sought out work and done everything they could have done to find employment. Most of them can't even string a sentance together.

I just wish the riot squads could use real bullets to put them down; the rioters would soon dispell then. The problem with this coubtry is that it's way too soft. The looters over the last few days have helped themselves while the police have looked on in most cases. It's only after 3 days of rioting that plastic bullets and water cannon have been discussed.

I can only hope that the rioters have their benefits stopped for their actions and are punished with proper sentences. I do believe in karma, so all those guys have got bad things coming to them, especially the ones who robbed the bleeding kid whilst "helping him". Total scum!
