I thought the movie was mediocre at best. It seems like most people at the theater were dissapointed to.

I guess I'm easily entertained, because I enjoyed it. Not a 10, but definitely worth seeing on the big screen.

          ***spoilers***

I liked it... I really did. The title is misleading if you know it's meaning from the book though. I mean, Last man on earth and Omega man at least changed the title to be more in tune with their versions.

I mean why develop the Zombies, as intelligent (i.e. the trap set for Nevill) and caring (i.e Male zombie sad over his mate), if you are not going to reveal that they fear him and he is "legend" to them, thus I am Legend? It's seems superfluous to develop this stuff and then not use it. Though I think it was good and the non-fan boys will dig it. I was pleased and it made for a good little movie escape...

YES! This is my biggest complaint... Dave, the plot holes you mention were all things that pointed toward the ending the author wrote (and the reference to the title)... and the revelatory way in which the girl finds all the pictures of Neville's "test subjects" also hints at how Neville is really a kind of "serial killer" or "new vampire" to these zombie people... I think Romero approaches this switch in paradigms in his Land of the Dead... I saw a story online that said I am Legend's ending was reshot... I'm hoping for the REAL ending on DVD... I'm also a little miffed about losing Matheson's meditation on the horror and blandness of suburbia... though I was truly impressed with the messed up NYC! No fixing that part, but I could've gotten over that if I had just been given the true Matheson ending... I did like the reintroduction of Neville's dog, though... that's an important character to me...

It's a pretty good movie I thought. If you compare it to the book (count me a huge fan as well), then you will be disappointed. If you take it on it's own merits and forget the book while you're watching it, it's a nice little escape movie.

I finally got to see it today.

It's a great last-man-on-Earth movie, but it's an updated remake of The Omega Man rather than an adaptation of I Am Legend, the book. The credits even say it's based on the Corrington's screenplay for The Omega Man.

I liked the uninhabited city, and Neville's struggle to cope with his loneliness and grief. I'll buy the DVD, but I won't watch it as often as I watch Heston and Price as Neville. They're true legends.

I don't know why a lot of people don't like Will Smith, I think he's a terrific action star...I enjoy most of his movies.

I wanted to love this movie, everything was decent except...

Why are the bloody zombies in CGI?????????????????????

Everything organic in fact was CGI, the bloody stampeding deer, the bloody lions, the bloody zombie dogs, even trees for crying out loud...I mean ***???

Saw it for a second time with my son - and I still thought it was good. He loved it (he's 12, so he loves any movie he gets to see). And you're right Ant, it is an update of Omega Man.

I watched the second time trying to put myself in his shoes thinking he is absolutely alone in the world. Tough.

                        *****SPOILERS!!!!!!!******

I didn't like Will Smith's reaction when he first sees the woman and kid, instead of acting gleefully (after the shock wore off), he gets all angry and volatile, that's not a reaction I would've had, especially after three lonesome years thinking of being the last person on earth. Besides, with a beautiful woman like that (as opposed to the mannequins), I'd be thinking dirty thoughts, lol.

Smith does possibly the best Neville ever, I never had a doubt. I enjoyed the ties to the book by making Robert a family man and adding his dog.

I just wish the film had more substance, less CGI gumby monsters and the amazing relevation of the original book.

I just saw this movie and enjoyed it. Just a few questions though. After only 3 years there are weeds growing in the roads? Seems a bit unrealistic in NYC. Also, the zombies are portrayed as barbaric yet one comes with a couple of dogs in his hands. Wouldn't a rabid dog attack anything? I didn't really like the whole god giving her a vision thing either. Overall, an entertaining movie though.

                                Great summation...

I really did like this movie, the New York scenes alone were awesome. Will Smith was incredible and I will own this movie... GO see it, if you get the chance.
