    I Am Legend

Who's seen it? What did you think?

I saw it today, but I don't want to give out any spoilers.

I will just tell you that it's worth watching when it comes out on video, but spend your good cineplex $ on something else.

Nevertheless, Will Smith's 2nd best performance, BTW (Pursuit of Happyness jumps to mind as the best).

My son and I are going to see it this weekend. I'm a big fan of Matheson's book and both of the previous movie incarnations so I can't miss a chance to see this one on the big screen.

If you're a fan of Matheson's book, you're going to be happy in some places, but MASSIVELY disappointed in others (notably the ending).

I love the novel, the Vincent Price version, and the Charleton Heston one.

Though I recommend Will Smith's movie, I'm still waiting for the definitive adaptation of Matheson's novel.

Although I love the book, I can't deny that major portions of it are uncinematic, and the ending is almost irrelevant in light of the protagonist's situation.

                  Anthony:

PM or something after you see the film so we can discuss without ruining for those who haven't read/seen yet.

I really do like this film, just let down... to me, Matheson's ending says something Hollywood is afraid to say... the Price version came closest (b/c it was made outside of Hollywood).

It was decent. It should have been longer to help develop his character's plight and decreasing hold on sanity. As it is, I just didn't care enough about his character. Also, the CG darkseekers are not great. I wonder if they went CG because if they had used actors, it would have been similar to 28 Dys Later.

It's from the theme song to the "Wild Wild West" movie he made with Kevin Kline, and, amusingly enough, from an episode of South Park where he plays Jim West to with his stuffed animal, Artemis ClydeFrog.
An old Irish Blessing - "May those who love us, love us; and if they do not love us, may God turn their hearts; and if He does not turn their hearts, may He turn their ankles, that we may know them by their limping"
