Hey Da, That sucks man! I hate Indian givers. No I don't I take that back.

Seriously though I do dislike people that give you something and then want it back. Makes a lot of sense to give it huh?

Anyway...I know nothing of the Wal-Mart guns. With Wal-Mart selling it I would be a bit leary. I put little faith in Wal-Mart's merchandise.

              Best of luck to you!

I'm guessing the newer models are easier to handle - my old Mossberg had one hell of a kickback.

It was literally like holding and firing a cannon

No matter what kind you get just make sure you first test it out firing at the hip

Wal-Mart is America's one stop shopping source for just about anything on your shopping list (except for REMEGO's)

You need a shot gun? NO PROBLEM

You need an oill change? NO PROBLEM

You need a Mattel retro action Mego figure? SORRY - WE DON'T CARRY THOSE.

I don't much about guns (never owned one). Someone I know who does own a gun for home protection told me that they would recommend taking a gun safety course and give you an opportunity to shoot various firearms. They said, they will give you tips on different guns for different purposes and probably good advice as to whether it is worth buying a basic model at Wal-Mart or going up market a bit knowing that you are basically using it for self protection. I personally have avoided owning one because I know it would have to be loaded at all times if there was a break in. I know it is easy to imagine that you would remain cool under pressure be able to load, take aim, etc. but it usually doesn't work out that way. I just have never felt comfortable taking the risk in the offchance that my kids found it and started fooling around with it. Ironically, my dad had two guns that were kept underneath his bed and loaded at all times. I knew not to even think about looking at them unless I wanted a beating and although he basically had it for home protection; I never saw him fire a single round even though I knew he had seen combat action in Korea and grew up on a farm hunting so I don't think he would have had any reservations about using it if someone broke in.

It's actually uncommon to find guns in any department store.

Walmart and K-mart are two big exceptions.

In the sticks (like around where I am) most people get their guns at the local sport/fishing shop

There is some hole in the wall shop we always pass when we vacation in West Virginia called "Honeymooners Gun shop". I have been half tempted to park and take a look around but then I let common sense get in the way.

You'll probably have some work to do on your house (walls, etc.) in addition to cleaning up your floors, if you use a shot gun for home defense. That said it can be effective. And you don't need to be a very good shot.
                                My Updated Want List:
                                Comic book original art
1970s Hulk or Spider-man metal garbage can
                                Custom Mego Nexus, Grendel

Have lots of comics and Marvel Legends figures for trades. Thanks!
