I think a lot of you know my views on Billy Joke.

That's easy. I'm not an Elton John fan, but even I can admit he had some really good, well written songs. Well, at least one (Goodbye Yellow Brick Road).

Billy Joel on the other hand, is a total musical abomination. It's funny actually, because he was always on my list of "most hated musicians"...along with Bruce Springsteen, Bret Michaels, Bono (I would love to punch him), Phil Collins and coincidentally ( sees avatar above), Sammy Hagar.

So, I don't know if Joel is saying it's actually dangerous to walk through Bed-stuy, or if the point of the song is that it's not a big deal but his girlfriend keeps driving him crazy with all these little things.
It is Dangerous to walk through Bed-Stuy alone I use to do it everyday, we just laughed at him saying what does a guy from Hicksville know about walking through Bed-stuy alone one time.....try doing it everyday and surviving....

          Here are the words

Friday night I crashed your party
          Saturday I said I'm sorry
Sunday came and trashed it out again
          I was only having fun
          Wasn't hurting anyone
And we all enjoyed the weekend for a change

I've been stranded in the combat zone
I walked through Bedford Stuy alone
Even rode my motorcycle in the rain
And you told me not to drive
But I made it home alive
So you said that only proves that I'm insane

          You may be right
          I may be crazy
But it just might be a lunatic you're looking for
          Turn out the light
          Don't try to save me
You may be wrong for all I know
          But you may be right

Remember how I found you there
          Alone in your electric chair
I told you dirty jokes until you smiled
You were lonely for a man
I said take me as I am
'Cause you might enjoy some madness for a while

Now think of all the years you tried to
          Find someone to satisfy you
I might be as crazy as you say
If I'm crazy then it's true
That it's all because of you
And you wouldn't want me any other way

          You may be right
          I may be crazy
But it just may be a lunatic you're looking for
          It's too late to fight
It's too late to change me
You may be wrong for all I know
          But you may be right

          You may be right
          I may be crazy
But it just may be a lunatic you're looking for

Billy Joel. Elton's voice always kinda irritated for some reason. Same with Geddy Lee and Phill Collins. I know they are all good singers but for some reason their voices kind of annoy me.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I always liked them both. But Billy does write his stuff by himself so maybe give him a slight edge. But Bernie Taupin writes great lyrics for Elton.

Haha - so it IS dangerous. I don't know these things. Spike Lee make it look like such a nice place to visit.

I haven't seen (been to) Bedford Stuyvesant in like 15 years.

Back then it was nowhere near as nasty as some parts of Harlem

Elton John. Billy Joel wasn't cool when he was cool. If I hear "Piano Man" one more time, I going to shiv somebody.

Hahaha! I feel that way about SO many songs!

I hated Joel for years. He's not cool, he's not ground breaking, but he wrote a few catchy pop songs that people like. I'm not a fan of most of them, but for some reason I've got a soft spot for "Only the Good Die Young" and "It's Still Rock N' Roll To Me". Maybe I've just gotten old and nostalgic.
