For the Married Guys and Gals - moral question inside

We were talking about this at work today.

Would you (or let your husband for the ladies) donate sperm if asked by a very good friend?

I am talking donation (so no dirty answers).

You will have no further ties with the child other than a friend of the family.

    My wife said "NO!!!!"

I don't think I could even if she said yes.

I can't imagine it would ever happen, but yes. My husband would probably refuse.

I don't see anything wrong with it.

Sharing the gift of life with someone not so fortunate is like donating a kidney.

There is nothing wrong with it, it is a great thing. I could do it for a stranger that I would never see again before some one who I know, because of the child.

Yea, I'd do it, but not for free.

I don't see a problem with it morally, but I wouldn't do it. If there were children out there that I knew were mine, but I couldn't be a part of their lives, I don't think I could deal with that.

Gotta second DocDrako on that. It would be too hard knowing that kid was part mine.

my wife said hell no! I don't think I could it, knowing that somewhere there could be a kid that i helped create and not even know about him?(if i was selling) can't do it and if it was for someone close, there's no way i'd even consider it

I think it would depend upon the situation...maybe who the friend was. A close Brother like friend....may have to think about it....an acquantence....Uh no.

i would agree with DocDrako......i would just not be able to know I had a child out there that did not even know I existed and I wasn't part of the childs life.

Neither of us want kids, let alone a friend or acquaintance having a kid that is biologically my husbands. No, that would be really weird.

As a person who was once married, I can say w/ total conviction NOOOOOO!
