I only know one Belgian and he's a cool cat! Hey Meule!
Mina is the world's first Paranormal Petsitter in the new middle-grade book series by Gary Buettner, MONSTER PETS, coming in FALL 2014 from EMBY KIDS. Spooky adventure that's perfect reading for kids 8-12

I took it as a joke immediately. It seems to me that too many people get offended by too much that has been labeled "political correct"
It reminds me of a story my uncle from Arizona sent me several years back. It seems that there was a group of Native Americans that were so offended by the Indian nicknames in American sports (Redskins, Indians, Braves etc.) that they named their school team "The Fighting Whiteys". After the story got out, the requests for fighting whiteys jerseys overwhelmed the tribes mail. (I should mention that my wife is 1/2 Algonquin Indian.) Anyway, they returned to the old team name in frustration.
If we all could learn to laugh WITH each other (not AT each other) the world would be a much brighter placeLivin' the American Dream!

Just for the record this is satire, not a parody. My objection is the use of the term genocide. It has nothing to do with him writing about Belgians. I just do not like to see the term genocide tossed around like a joke. It isn't funny to me in any context.
I wanted to make sure everyone understood why I think it is in poor taste. Lose the term genocide and it would be different. Of course nobody would ever try and use such a word like genocide just for publicity sake now would they?

Brad has hit it exactly--I thought it was a funny political satire, but "genocide" is too loaded a word for satire, I suspect. It does give me a creepy rankle that ruins the joke.
My favorite Belgian, barring Meule, is Hercule Poirot, & he's fictitious.

I think it's done too poorly to be effective as satire. Just comes of as the rantings of a mentally disturbed person. Way more creepy than remotely funny. You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...Comment

Thanks everyone!!!
I have been here at work from 7:30am to 10pm every day this week and at this point I am getting pretty punchy. (even more then usual). That's why I wanted to clarify what I wrote as it most likely didn't come out right. Thank you all for being so understanding. That's why I love this place. You are all such kind people. I don't want anyone to think that I am not grateful for the enjoyment this place gives me.
I have enough fighting on my own board (I don't start any of it. I have to try and defuse it. I appreciate the job of the mods here from my own experience) so I certainly never mean to cause any trouble here.
That word just makes me feel icky.

I can take abuse as well as the next guy, but this seems a but too hateful and disturbing.
But as I'm a tolerant and Ghandi-like pacifist, I feel the only way to respond to this...is to give the author a really good beating. I'll bring the torches and pitchforks....
