You will find out some interesting info. Basically they are not worth what they charge for their services. They don't do anything that you can't do on your own. They set up blocks on your credit reports so that you have to be contacted and verified before anyone can give you a loan. However, you can set those block up on your own for free. They also have credit reports sent to you from the three major reporting agencies, again something you can do yourself for free. The one very misleading thing they say, and which is detailed in the fine print, is the insurance. Lifelock offers $1,000,000 in insurance against identity theft. HOWEVER, what they only tell you in the fine print is that they will only pay out if your identity is stolen due to negligence on their part, meaning they neglected to put the blocks in place or get the reports sent to you. Which they are not going to neglect to do. Your identity can still be stolen and you can be out bucho bucks, but they will not use their insurance to cover you unless they forgot to do something in their plan, which they will not forget to do. I signed up for Lifelock several year ago when we caught somebody going through a dumpster during our kitchen remodel and I had some papers in it that I was worried about. I have been trying to cancel the service for some time now and I can't get through to them to cancel. Every time I choose the phone option to cancel, I wait on hold for a hour and then get disconnected. When I choose regular customer service, I am told I have to call back and get to the cancellation department, but I can't get to them. So, as far as I am concerned, these identity theft programs are a scam. Just be careful if you decide to sign up for one.
Good luck to you. Maybe that's why it's called Lifelock!! They're just as worse as thieves.

Very sorry to hear that and I know the sense of violation. Years ago, someone went through our neighborhood late at night into any unlocked car stealing money, credit cards, etc. At the time; I was pulled the car in my driveway and left it unlocked since the crime rate is super low in our area. I got into my car to go to work and found everything pulled out of my glove compartment, center console, etc. I originally thought my kids (who were really young at that point) got in there looking for gum but after 30 seconds realized that someone had been in my car. Thankfully, I didn't have anything in my car worth stealing but still felt violated. A robber right at my front door while we were sleeping. I warned our neigbors and sure enough another one had credit cards stolen. By the time he called the credit card company a few thousand $ had been charged to it. He cancelled the credit card but made one huge blunder. He didn't cancel the other credit card stolen since no suspicious purchasing activity occurred. A couple of weeks later, the robber started using this credit card. It's really a shame and hopefully, they will catch the thieves but chances are they won't. We were told in our case it was probably a drug addict looking to buy some items fast and sell them cheap to a pawn shop or anyone else so they could score some drugs. It appeared that the police had bigger fish to fry than put much effort in the car thefts that occurred.

I'd have enjoyed seeing their faces when they walked into the toy room.

Actually, they pretty much ignored the toyroom. One Evel Knievel box was knocked down, a David Cassidy binder was on the floor (both items from the closet), and my Love Notes doll was brought into my room. (what were they playing w/ it?) Other than that, nothing.

I'm so sorry to hear this. But I'm glad to hear you are safe.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Glad to know you are ok. As disturbing as a break in can be, things are just things and they can be replaced. However you sense of security is a huge loss.

I hope they catch those bastiches and that you get your stuff back. It is a horrible violation. Wouldn't wish that feeling on anyone.

Sorry to hear about this, Sharry. I hope that it doesn't weigh on you too heavily. Before I got my furry security system (Two big dogs) I experienced a break and enter. I understand fully how you feel equally violated/angry/creeped out.
