Words you still have trouble spelling

Does any one have any?

I think I have been messing up 'any one', 'everybody' and 'every one' because I can't tell if they are meant to be one word or two. I finished school years ago but still manage to make myself look like an idiot by making errors that can only be described as pure stupidity.
For example, I just learned that Surprise, actually has two R's! I always thought it was spelled like Suprise. Pretty funny eh? If that isn't enough I just worked out that spelt is not a word, in fact the correct word is spelled.

Interesting stuff.
Does any one else have trouble with words even though they should be old enough to teach their own children how to spell? Maybe piece (peice) for example?

I have trouble spelling difficult words and have to write them down seoerately to see if they "look" right. What with spell check and txt spelling on the increase it is becoming a lost art. How long before we are back to shakespears era of spelling it as it sounds reguardless of dialect (he himself spelt his own name numerous different ways).

"Spelt" is a perfectly acceptable British word. You shouldn't abandon it just because Americans don't use it.

The double Rs in "diarrhea" and "hemorrhage" have given me problems. I've had to look up "exaggerate" in the past, but I've mastered it finally.

I know that there are other words that I've had to look up more than once, but I try to remember the corrected spellings instead of the fact that I had to correct them.

The system at my office is set to American spelling and it makes me insane, stopping my emails for words such as "Favour", "Cheque" and "Catalogue". I should probably switch it to UK.

same here,i always spell accessories with one S,Believe I spell Beleive and when I try and type to fast I ALWAYS ALWAYS type taht for that

My system is set to U.K. English, but I've made it learn so many American spellings that it's really "Universal" English (and why do we need more than one English language anyway?). Noah Webster's "reformed" American spelling irritates me (except for the elimination of the conjoined letters æ and œ), so I use the U.K. spellings generally.

I was taught in elementary school that "catalogue" was the correct spelling, so "catalog" looks to me like a deliberate misspelling being foisted on us by the media.

Sometimes its not just the spelling thats confusing but the pronounciation... In Star Trek 4 when Scotty is talking about transparent aluminium it really grates me as he's meant to be scottish so he surely would pronounce it the English (UK) way. Also the way Picard pronounces route...seeing as he's french it is more proberble he would have learnt the English(UK) pronounciation.......rant over....and i'm spent

It's just a movie flubber considering Scotty is actually Canadian and pronounces most things North American-ish

"Route" is one of my pet peeves. "Rout" is an entirely different word, not an alternate pronunciation of "route."

The American spelling and pronunciation of "aluminium" became popular because of advertisements by one of the earliest commercial producers of the metal. It may have been a typographical error.
