I can't spell at worth crap! You folks here prob. have seen my many mess ups. almost every post I post here I spell check, and then hope I don't have a word that's close to another word and I post a completely wrong word

All through grade school I just didn't get spelling. I do have to say that posting on message boards have helped me a lot, since they challenge me to spell words that I would skip over in everyday life.

and yes I ran this post through spell check also and nothing seemed to have came out wrong ... yay me

I have never been a good speller.(had 3 spelling errors in this post alone)
But you know you’re really bad when spell check doesn’t even know what the word is.

That was great, makes your eyes water a little, (also doing the up the fly on my trousers to quickly has the same effect) it's a bit like one of those Magic Eye puzzles.

When someone first gave me that on a sheet of paper to read out loud, in a group of 10 people in a night class I took, I read it as if it were the front page of the paper without a single stall, lol. Makes me feel better becasue it proves a person doesn't have to be good at spelling to be able to read. I had teachers in grade school and Jr. High always put me in the lower reading classes becasue I couldn't spell good, but I'd blow ahead of them in books we read in class, and could understand what I read better than some of those super spellers

The thing I find most unusual is the fact that you write awesome with an "e" and awful without an "e". Thanks for that lesson, Ant

When I am typing fast I almost always type "you're" as "your".

It annoys the crap out of me because I know better.

Although improper English usage annoys me, I enjoy figuring out why certain words are so often misspelled. A lot of spelling and grammar mistakes are perpetuated by the advertising and entertainment industries in anglophone countries, and many people assume that whatever is commonly used by the media must not only be acceptable, but that it must also be correct. You're better able to see the mistakes, because you aren't constantly bombarded with them the way we are. It's almost as difficult for us to learn proper English as it is for you, because we see it so rarely.

The thing I find most unusual is the fact that you write awesome with an "e" and awful without an "e". Thanks for that lesson, Ant
My pleasure. The reason for the confusion is obvious, so it's excusable. I hope my "lesson" was tactful.

I applaud your efforts to learn our language as it should be, instead of how it too often is. I sincerely appreciate it. As Poe would say, "Thou art the man!"

I really have never had too much trouble with spelling. As someone else posted, I usually only make spelling errors when I am typing too fast. Here is a list of some of the most commonly misspelled words (misspelled is one of them). Try them out on your significant other and see how many they get wrong.

                                absence
                                embarrass
                                occasion
                                absurd
                                environment
                                occurred
                                accidentally
                                equipped
                                occurrence
                                accommodate
                                escape
                                omitted
                                across
                                exaggerate
