I remember getting my grandmother to buy me a pair of the Bruce Jenner sneakers at Gimbels. I didn't care about the shoes, but they came with these medals that went on the laces.

"How do they feel? Can you walk in them OK?"

"Where are the medals? I don't see the medals!"

"Uh, yeah, but how's the fit?

"I can't find the medals. Don't forget the medals. It says they come with medals!"

And having the medals, plus brand new Bruce Jenner sneakers, made me super-fast. I mean Flash fast.

Y'know, now that I think about it, I think I had the white Traxx, but w/ blue stripes, when I was about 18.

When I was first on my own, I was a big KMart shopper. Cheap deals, and I could still afford to eat!

I was a bit of an oddball I guess. My shoes were the run of the mill store brands. I couldn't tell you the name for the life of me. Anyway back to another oddity that makes me kinda special...

when I was a kid I would run in super slow mode like the six Million Dollar man believing that I was actually faster and better than every other kid on the street. even when they would smoke me in a foot race I wasn't convinced. I know I had the stride right but something just needed to be adjusted with my technique.

Ah, the mind of a six year old. And thanks to Mego's and Re-Mego's I can easily slide back into that niave but innocent mentality. The closest thing there will ever be to a fountain of youth or time travel. Thank you Marty, Paul, Craig, Jason and David. I owe you one.
