I'm sure a lot of thought went into this to make it
an overall cohesive look for the character as he's
portrayed in the script..it may not be exactly what
we were expecting...but the positive reasons for
that being the deal have been stated in this thread
already....and I'm goin' with 'em for now

I love the look of the Joker, I think they've hit the nail on the head there. He even looks a little like the 60's tv version in the pic where he's holding the cards up. I think they've over done the Bat suit but I'm hoping it looks better on film.Comment

I agree about the Cesar Romero similiarities, which is kinda weird, but he's so iconic that I suppose it's hard to get away from that take on the character. Even Nicholson's Mr. J had a bit of Romero in him....Comment

My overall expectation for Dark Knight Returns is fine with regards to the story I'm hearing about and I liked Batman Begins. But the costume department continues to disappoint. I think the more you conceptualize the character, the more you lose focus on the source material. Irregardless of the story, ticket buyers are there to SEE Batman. Universally this is not the Batman people are looking for. I saw a short film made a while back called "Batman Deadend" and that costume was incredible. Now if someone can do a homemade version and come close to nailing the classic look of Batman, why can't the studios? My initial thinking continues to be the same...toys. This Batman just looks like a big plastic action figure. My favorite costume to date in the movie franchise is Batman Returns. I thought they really nailed the cowl in that one. Keaton looked great. And that Batmobile also continues to be my favorite. I thought they did a good job of giving it a great look while still retaining something of a muscle car look. The current generation Batmobile is..well different and not in any way associated with the general mythos of the Batman comics.Comment
