Given the fall out and mess that was left behind in Gotham at the end of Batman Begins I think a little scruffiness can be excused.
"I should say I`m very much cleverer than any of the people who put me here. As a matter of fact, I could leave any time I wanted. It`s only a doll`s house after all. Anyway, I don`t mind. I like dolls" - The Mad Hatter, Arkham Asylum.

      Hey,
I loved the Burton first two Batman movies for what they were - a comic movie of a comic book. Not a graphic novel, a comic book. Comics were always on the funny side, with a lot of suspense of disbelief involved with it. For what it was, I really liked them both.
However, the new Batmans follow more of the graphic novel approach to the movies, and I like them for what they are as well.
I don't know if I like the new Joker's look - I always thought him to be vain and primpy in nature, and the look in the picture makes him look dirty. However, I think I'll wait for the movie before making any last decisions.

For me the Joker's appearance differed along his many mood swings from teasing ,vain and egotistical to homicidal uncontrolled rage. This look depends on what aspect of his persona is going to be displayed in his criminal activity....if its elaborate traps and zany crimes with jokey quips this look is not going to work.....kinda like it though.

I have a lot of negative thoughts and things to say when I see this picture but I am going to refrain until I see this movie. Maybe this movie will be so awesome that Heath Ledger looking like someone crapped on his face might actually have a reason for it and it could be something so exciting and cool that it might change my opinions.
Crossing my fingers for a really good Batman movie here. Please. Please

Nolan's potential has me on the fence--I think Nolan did a passable job with BB---
yet the majority thought he came thru with flying colors
The Joker is really important to me---I'd like to see a current movie with the Joker
exceed even the highest (ahem Spiderman 2, Batman Begins) accolades in critical and
fan reaction---I am a HUGE fan of the movie THE PATRIOT and aLOT of that is due
to Ledger's acting skill----I'll continue to have high hopes----I'd just like to see
the Joker have a bit of an elitist streak in him for old times sake

^^^ Man, he looks creepy. The only thing that would make this movie perfect is if Bats were in the black/grey costume.

I had no problem with BB, I thought it was way more faithful than any of Burton's or ugh Scumacher's movies.

On that Wizard issue he looks like he's been in a fight, so that might explain the messy look

back in the day we called this movie by using three words :

                              " Direct to Video"

Actually t-bolt, I DID have some problems with BB and think Burton's movies were
better regardless of how "faithful" they were---but that wasn't the point of my
post as it looked you were implying that COSTUMES were what would make this movie
great---now maybe I just looked at your post as an opportunity to make a play on
a meaning your words APPEARED to be saying----apologies if I misunderstood what you
