Right! Plus the Soap Network carries General Hospital along with other soaps at night on cable networks.

ABC also owns SoapNet and is dumping it in 2012 and replacing it with a Disney Juniors channel...They site stuff like declining viewership as well as remaining viewers TiVoing and watching later as reasons for the demise of the cable network.

But if soaps are vanishing altogether then I guess the point is moot anyway, as far as SoapNet is concerned....

It's not really about ratings. It's about networks being cheap and lazy. Way cheaper to push more reality TV and talk shows on us. No scripts to write, sets to build or talent needed.

Man, Susan Lucci will never get that emmy now, eh? I think ABC has lost many soaps over the years compared to other networks. I think they also used to have The Edge of Night and Port Charles with Randolph Mantooth & Morgan Fairchild and there was one that preceded Port Charles.

I used to watch Search for Tomorrow and The Young & The Restless in the late `80s/early `90's. Tracey E. Bergman had quite a rack and showed it off quite frequently on Y&R in the summer episodes. Also, I never knew it at the time, but the actor who played Jonah on Ark II was the bad guy with the heart of gold on Y&R back then. I didn't even recognize him because he was clean shaven.

spanish soaps suck ***, all they have is hot chicks and it's always the same thing...some rich guy falls for a poor hot chick from the village and the rich older fiance or wife tries her hardest to keep her away from her man

Spanish soap operas are great...hot chicks...and they actually end...meaning...they have a limited run...usually just one season...and presto...time for another one.

American ones just keep on ticking F O R E V E R...they have been the same ol' boring non-stop crap since the Jurassic Era...
