My wife, mother in law and even my father in law are devastated. It truly is the end of an era when a staple of daytime television has been handed a pink slip after four decades.

I never cared for the soap opera genre in general but I still the sadness in his.

I remember coming home after school and the Soaps would be on. As The World Turns and Days of Our Lives. Peyton Place was on during the afternoon as well. It wasn't a Prime Time broadcast like in the States.

Another Soap was Coronation Street.

Back in the day I'd get "shushed" by my mother and sisters when they were watching Peyton Place.

Never been a Soap fan.

Nah, I think soaps suck too it's just that I see the canceling of those shows s a sign for many worse things to come for broadcast television. Sure the audience has changed and all but still the paradigm has hit the wall.

I was never into soaps, but I am sad at their demise. End of an era. I also know a few people who will be out of work as a result.

Right! Plus the Soap Network carries General Hospital along with other soaps at night on cable networks. For some reason General Hospital is still on top. I guess the other soaps have burned out. What else can you write about for so many years before you fizzle out??
There are way too many GH fans though for that to happen. They have good writers and James Franco to make cameos

So far so good in that my gf's favorite is Y&R. I watch it with her every so often. Yes, I admit it.

It seems like the same old thing though. This one is in bed with that one today and tomorrow they all switch partners and then they are in bed with someone else different. Sets a really good example for our youth for sure.

No wonder the soaps are dying breed. At the rate they are going with their scripts it is like watching the Playboy channel.

I for one will not miss them as I am not a big TV person at all to begin with. It does suck for those that truly enjoyed watching the now cancelled shows though.

I just seen on the news that they stated at one time there was 19 soap operas going at once during their peak. Now I think they are down to four they said.

Lets face it folks! FREE broadcast TV is going, going, almost gone!

My mom used to watch One Life To Live sometimes. But mostly it was The Doctors, Days Of Our Lives and Another World. Never watched All My Children. I didn't think it was possible to cancel a show that's over 40 years old. It's practically an institution. Farewell classic soaps. You'll be missed by many.
