How are your Roads?

Arkansas' Highway and Transportation department is pretty well funded these days. While I'm sure some parts of the state have issues most of the roads I travel are pretty good.

Depending on where you go here in STL the roads are pretty good considering all of the massive amount of traffic that they get. There is the occasional "patched" pot hole or so due to the recent bad Midwest weather.


Speaking of pot holes. My gf and I was out tooling around and stopped in at a gas station that we had never been to before. The highway leading up to the gas station was great. Once we got off of the highway and started toward the gas station the lot was literally riddled with pot holes. It looked like the place was bombed that is how bad the parking lot was.

Thank goodness I drove the Hummer that day and not the Caddy or one of my sports cars. They would have never made it through the lot in one piece.

Needless to say we/I will not ever go back to that horrible place again (unless maybe they fix all of those holes) Hummer or not.

There's alot of Plans to have road improvements in various Counties and Cities Addressed Here, however little has been done the last few years, because of the Economy here. No Money . Hopefully soon ..., so the 700+ people can get outta the hall.

I've had to change the way I take to work, the road I use to take had gotten so bad it was like you spent as much time driving left and right as you did going straight.

In Oakland...it depends on the neighborhoods...some are awful...while some are excellent. My own street could use some fixing.

As far as freeways are concerned...Oakland is sandwiched between two major highways...880 and 580.

880 is the one by the Bay...it's in HORRIBLE shape...not only because of its massive traffic...but because it allows 18-wheeler trucks...and anything else that fits...it takes a beating...and the poor road shows it...horrible freeway...I hate it.

580 on the other hand...big trucks are off limits...you'll will get a HUGE fine by the CHP if found driving there on a big truck...and the road shows...not only is it much more picturesque-looking that 880...but the road itself is outstanding...like night and day.

I live in the 580 side...as well as both Sharry and Scott...we shall I be happy with are on that side of Oakland...lol.
