Is the Pro Bowl even legitimate anymore?

I occasionally switched back and forth to monitor the Pro Bowl yesterday. And it became abundantly clear this game has become a complete shame. In the past, these games use to be somewhat competitive. Now their a total fiasco. 35 to 0 at halftime? And a final score of 55 to 41? The last score a literal 'give-me' because no one chose to tackle the the runner during a lateral fiasco in which everyone was laughing and no one was trying. It felt like I was watching the football version of the Harlem Globetrotters. And since this game is now played BEFORE the Superbowl, so many players voted in never play because their in the Superbowl the following week. So what is the point? Revenue? Clearly...

I agree. It looked just slightly rougher than two hand touch. Soft tackles, light rushes on the QB, and although it's good to see them having a good time...it is a game. There is no need to level a player and risk injury but at least show the same level of professional competitiveness. I also switched it on an off as it became apparent that there were only a few players taking this game seriously (Adrian Peterson was one that stood out) as did DeAngelo Hall who wasn't even supposed to be in the probowl but was a fill in for one of the Packers. He ended winning MVP...and he's an excellent player, had a lot of picks during the season but he is a huge risk taker. He either will cause a turnover or get burned big time as he's always looking for the interception.

Yeah, I hate the game being before the Superbowl.

Talking Redskins, I remember there was a game years ago where Dexter Manley took out John Elway after he had run out of bounds. It wasn't hard enough to get a flag, but it was obvious.
      It's all good!

Can't watch it.....just has no edge or meaning to it, same with the Baseball all-star game

Basketball and hockey at least will be competitive.....

I don't know why they bother. I remember there was a dolphins running back a few years ago who blew out a knee, or maybe both knees, doing something during pro bowl week and was never the same. I don't think it's worth the risk, especially if they go to 18 games. If they must do something, let them have some contest like maybe a hybrid of stuff they do at the combine and punt/pass/kick.

Playing beach volleyball, if I remember correctly. I think he was a rookie, too. I enjoy watching the game, even if it is a farce.

I'm trying to remember when it was meaningful. Nope. Can't do it.

The NHL all-star game was just as bad. 11-10, really? And I don't even watch hockey.

Maybe they should make it mean something like baseball? But being at the end of the season I couldn't imagine what though.

The Pro Bowl pulled an 8.6 rating!!! Better than some of the BCS games and the World Series... Horrid game, big $$$$ for Fox.

I flipped back and forth. I gave up when I saw Michael Vick have 30 seconds to throw the ball and then 3 or 4 defenders would hold the receiver until the ref. blew the whistle.

I did catch a part later on where someone ran on the field (looked like a teenager or possibly young adult). The police promptly arrested him and all the players were standing there laughing. For a minute, I actually thought they were going to do an instant replay.
