What city would you like to live besides your own?
Got to show some love for Tennessee. My wife and I talk of moving there when we retire. I love the area around Gatlinburg. Wouldn't want to live right in the tourist part, but in the general region
Lived in Chicago for all but 2 years of my life (Philadelphia boarding school), I still haven't grown tired of it. Sure, the landscape is flat, the winters are brutal, but the summers are fantastic and you can't beat Lake Michigan as a backdrop to the city.
Still, if I had to move anywhere, I'd consider: Denver, Vancouver, Boise, New Orleans, Portland, Montreal, or downtown Scranton.
Just curious...what don't you like about Seattle? is it the weather? Because that wouldn't bother me. 50% Rain( I LOVE the Rain!), 40 degrees average low...70 degrees average high...am I right? Sounds like my kind of weather!
Seattle is the heroin capital of the USA...and tons of homeless...mmm......come to think of it...it's identical to San Francisco...
But it also has my kind of weather (I love rain, lol)...pretty progressive...awesome scenery...very San Francisco like as well.
I would love to move back to my home state of Maryland. Outside of Baltimore to be exact.
That's where I am right now. Actually more like half-way between Baltimore and DC. I love it here, but if I had to go somewhere else, I would consider Myrtle Beach, or Virginia Beach (there's a pattern here) Outside the US, I really liked visiting the UK when my wife and I went 10 years ago.

Some people told me the cot of living in Seattle is too high and it's very expensive to live there. I don't know if anyone can confirm this. Still would you want to be living there and have the volcanoes go active?
How can you guys love rain!! I know we need some for obvious reasons, but 50% of the time?! Not for me. I enjoy too many outdoor activities (swimming, cycle riding, mountain biking, snowboarding) that don't go well with rain!

that would be it were in the top 5 in the nation its insane the cost of living here. and it rains here less then people think its all rumors I was born and raised here
Either Trumsol, Norway, Minneapolis, or Souix Falls. I have relatives in all three. I live just a boat ride away from Seattle, but I only get over there once or twice a year. Sci-Fi Museum/EMP are pretty cool. I always try to hit Golden Age Collectables when I'm there. Too bad Lusty Lady closed. Some of the stuff they would put up on the marquee was entertaining reading. Funny that it was located across the street from the Seattle Art Museum. Go figure.
If I had to live on the cheap such as on social security, I'd move to Montevideo, Uruguay, near the "Old City" or Punta Del Este.
Reasons are simple...
high speed internet in the city.
Large US Ex-pat population.
I speak castellano (Castile Spanish, not to be confused with Catelan) but most young folks speak english.
FedEx and UPS deliver there.
Land is cheap.
My folks were born there, so I can petition for citizenship without much of a hassle.
cost of living is SUPERcheap. I almost bought a penguin as a pet there for a C note!
quality of life is good (if you have money.)
retirees from the US live like kings there.
medical care is universal and at US standards thanks to British influence.
weather is onpar with Northeastern US (with reversed seasons of course).
US citizens have protection there.

Yeah, I've done the comparison online of my Home State of Maine...and Seattle, and they're about the same...so no big change for me there. But you have no state tax right? Which means when I retire in 4 1/2 years...my Pension won't be taxed by the State.

Uruguay also has the lowest crime rate in Latin America...
