Sheesh. This is America, not Iran.
First of all...the torture part was false baravado from me...almost like a figure of speech...so chill...lol.

Having said that...most of America approves of the death penalty.

this guy deserves a fair trial....then he deserves to be summarily executed for his crime.
why should the public have to pay to keep him behind bars for the rest of his natural life. the guy is only 22, we could end up paying for his jail sentence for 60 years or more

Most of the time the death penalty actually costs more than life imprisonment. Special facilities, special personnel, appeals and administrative costs, etc. A big reason why some states have banned it.

Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords gave this interview with NBC news after she voted on the Healthcare Reform Bill. Prophetically she discusses being "targeted". Watch this clip. We may never truly "know" her but get a sense of the person she is and know a little bit about her.

Does this bug anybody else? I'm glad the lady will live and all but I am miffed NO ONE is saying anything about the people who did die. The one man was a Judge and they dont even have the decency to mention him by name. Its like going through the Gilligan island credits and saying "And the rest" America should give those that did die some respect.

It's inappropriate, especially for a toy board.

That's irrelevant, and that topic of discussion doesn't belong here.

I don't agree. Their names have been discussed many places, particularly Christina Green, who was the nine-year-old girl who was born on 9-11-01, was elected to student council and had an interest in government, and the granddaughter of an ex-manager of the Philadelphia Phillies. We'll never know what she may have grown up to do or be, and that is just pure tragedy.

The reason she gets the extra media attention is that Congresswoman Giffords was specifically targeted by the shooter.

Yep, when I saw this thread I knew that it's gonna go down that slope. One of the reasons why I don't comment anymore. It's one thing that has been agreed upon here in the Museum...No political talk here. Period.

You want to talk about your political ideas or preferences for the Death Penalty...go start a Blog about it. This is a TOY SITE.

It is a tragedy...and there are a lot of sick people in the world...but please remember to leave the politics at the curb so to speak.
"When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
                        The beauty that surrounds them
                        Isn't it a pity".
