Okay...I'm trying to relate to the Show Tunes and I think I can.

Anything from "Man of La Mancha".

"I, Don Quixote' is pretty stirring, but nothing beats Elvis singing "The Impossible Dream".

I've always loved movie soundtracks and showtunes, including Disney movies. I also have a weakness for girl bands in general (The Bangles, the Go-Gos, Spice Girls, etc). Plus sappy, goofy soft rock from the 1970's and 1980's. Plus most pop music from the MTV/VH1 era, back when they still showed videos. Don't judge me

I'm pretty eclectic myself with a lot of genres (80's dance/pop, 70's disco, 40's big band (love those Reader's Digest record sets), and Alternative Rock)) in my collection, but I hate to admit liking musical soundtracks a bit too much. Streisand's "On A Clear Day" soundtrack with Yves Montand, "Hedwig & the Angry Inch", and "Cabaret" come to mind. If I'm talking to people my own age, I generally just admit to being an 80's guy who still listens to Blondie & the Go-Go's.

Well, living in the south I typically listen to country music most of the time. But I do like other stuff as well such as Neil Diamond, Sonny and Cher, ABBA and Barry Manilow. I've also seen Michael Bolton, Celion Dion, Barbara Mandrell and Alabama in concert. I like the music from Pirates of the Carribean and Phantom of the Opera. I also love the oldies from the 50's and 60's. And every year I find myself singing along to the tunes from the Rankin/Bass specials.

The soundtrack from Wicked is excellent as well as the play. I've seen it twice now and would pay to see it many more times.

I have the Rankin/Bass Christmas CD. I personally like the Rankin/Bass recording of Holly Jolly Christmas by Burl Ives over his original recording. There is a distinct difference if you listen to both.

Oops I forgot to mention one from my all time Hall of Shame: Bay City Rollers!

Showtunes are great! My favorites are Oliver, Godspell, Hair, Cats, Grease, Victor/Victoria, Jesus Christ Superstar and Tommy! Although, two soundtracks that I wish I had are Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Willy Wonka!

                                spooky music...

I love anything with a Halloween theme. Ghostly music gets my liver in a quiver!
I like most of the stuff mentioned (but I HATE Cel...oh, I can't even type her name!)
I ustah like me some misfits and figures on a beach (with their one hit) and samhain and most of the stuff played on WOXY. The meteors and about any psychobilly stuff.
I can recite the Lawrence Welk closing from memory too! (just to show I'm diverse.)
