Bar none...Doug Williams... 2nd Quarter, Super Bowl XXII.

This guy won't make anybody's top 100 list, but for one quarter of NFL Football, on the world's biggest stage, Doug Williams was the best QB I have ever seen (9 of 11 passes for 228 yards and 4 touchdowns).

I know there is a lot to overlook, but THAT was a clinic and THE most amazing performance* I have ever seen (and I was an Elway fan)!

*stipulated to express that this was the best NFL QB for one quarter of football, but there were 80 Million people watching this game and they were getting dominated early and Williams had left the game with an injury before he went on an absolute tear.

My pick for that one Superbowl has to be Joe Montana and his last minute winning drive to beat the Bengals...that was one for the ages.

I think an argument could definitely be made for Boomer. He's up there on the passing yardage list, played in a Super Bowl, his passer rating is better than some listed in this thread, and he threw for a butt-load of TDs (more than many QBs listed in this thread).

I loved that play, but Elway didn't score on it. He got the first down to keep the drive alive.

TD scored on a one yard run a couple of plays later.

It's too bad he didn't lose a few of those horse teeth in the process. I'll recognize his greatness as a QB, but God I hate that man. Always have. I've despised him since I started watching NFL in seventh grade or so. I can't explain the hatred, but it's diminished as I've grown older. Maybe it was his arrogance combined with his Mr. Ed, Beta Ray Bill, heathen horse face. Good player though.

Williams was definitely awesome to watch.....the good old days when the Redskins were great. Fortunately he was surrounded by a super talented front line (The Hogs) and a very good wide receiving corps. I think he is on the long list for HOF and probably will get there eventually.

Sammy Baugh was still the best QB the Redskins ever had and some of his stats still hold records. I would also add Sonny Jurgensen to the mix. He didn't play in Super Bowl VII due to an injury. I almost wonder if the outcome would have been different had he been playing instead of Billy Kilmer. I know the Dolphins get total props for an undefeated season but I think the Redskins did beat them in preseason that year (I realize that doesn't mean squat) and that Super Bowl wasn't a runaway.

Staubach - Leadership and a desire to never quit. No one did it better than Capt Comeback.
Bradshaw - Guts, will, and true stamina from taking hits. A real champion.
Elway - How many times in the 80's and early 90's did people write this guy off as the QB who couldn't win the big one? Then he came back and won it...TWICE. Beating Favre after Brett mocked him was particularly satisfying.
Brady - He said something that sums up the fire in his belly. He was asked, "Which Lombardi trophy is your favorite? He said, "The next one." Great answer! Always hungry. Never satisfied. That's a winner and a true leader.
Manning (Peyton) - The consummate student of the game. No QB has ever studied the game with more effectiveness. He raised the bar for this position.
Montana - A good QB that thrived in a great system with great weapons. The four rings speak for themselves.
Aikman - Also a good QB that flourished in a great system. His weapons? Well... how can you go wrong with Emmitt Smith, Michael Irvin, and Jay Novachek?
