I still watched Happy Days during this period. I preferred the reruns in syndication, but it was still Happy Days (kind of). I think the final episode is well done. Especially when Mr. C breaks the fouth wall and talks to the audience. Fonzie's adoption of the never-seen-before boy was a bit forced though.

I saw the episode last night that explained what happened to Ashely and Heather. The ex-husband came back, sobered up. It was a plot retread from back in the Richie years when Fonzie was serious about a lady with a young son. The dad came back, and Fonzie backed off. Recyle, recycle, recycle!!!

From what I'm seeing, this last season is an improvement over the previous several. All of the add-on characters really bogged the show down, and it didn't have much of an identity. On one of last night's episodes, poor Potsie actually got to do something for the first time in 3 years.

Yes Ive been following the show as well. You can definetley tell the end is near. Its 50's feel is long gone. All these add on charecters make it confusing as well. I don't know about anyone else but by this point in my life I had forgotten Happy Days was still on.
You figure as show as iconic as Happy Days the final episode would have been as big as MASH or something but by this point no one cared about it in its final years. Plus seeing the other actors star and act in campy 80's movies was another blow to its demise..haha.

Okay, so now the Hub has made it to the last (or second to last?) season. All the add-on characters of the post-Ritchie era are gone, except for Roger. Jenny, KC, Flip, Ashely, Heather...GONE. I wonder if the ratings were slipping and they decided to "retool" the show by taking it back a bit? And of course, Joanie and Chachi came back because their show got canned. I think Al will be back soon too.

Fonzie seems a bit more "in character" again as well. Maybe some old writers returned at this time?

I really enjoy the first couple of seasons of Happy Days when Fonzie was a supporting character rather than the star.

To me, those shows still hold up to me. The others I enjoy purely as nostalgia.

Tom Hanks was on the other night. I had no idea that he was on a episode of Happy Days! Pat Morita was on the same episode. I wanted to see him go Mr. Miyagi all over him but he didn't. Tom Hanks was on a lot of shows back then.
I notice Fonzie looks much older than he was supposed to be in these episodes.

Also Scott Baio made "Zapped!" around this time. Remember that one?

"LOVE brokers!!!" The Fonz and Batman pimpin' out of the morgue they worked in. Yeah; I remember it. Hard to forget something like that.

The Fonz met the Lone Ranger tonight....that scene would have played much better for me if it had been Clayton Moore instead of John Hart

I notice on these episodes every time Chachi or Fonzie walk into a room all the girls in the audience taping scream. I wonder if they did that on purpose cause the shows popularity was going down at the time?
Were in the 82 season so we got 2 more to go!
Anyone remember Henry Winklers movie "Night shift" that came out around this time? His character is so different from the Fonz. watched it recently and its still a great movie!

I was watching an Auction Kings marathon last night and someone had brought in a pinball machine like the one used on the show.

One of the funniest intro's is right after Richie leaves (playing now on Hub)

Keep watching Fonzie during the intro

He's like smiling and laughing -- and all of a sudden it's like somebody offscreen told him "be cool and do the ayyyy"

    Watch at 35 seconds in
