I caught a couple of episodes and to me, it is the most interesting of the lot.
I appreciate the skill and imagination that Dude brings to the table when he and his crew do a restoration. I love seeing a rusty, busted, overlooked nothing returned to its original glory. They put a lot of research into getting it just right, but they put a few touches on a restoration that makes it even a little better than what one can imagine. More of a spirit of the item accentuated by a clever, small touch that puts it over the top.
All of the other shows are built around the premise of "we bought it for $x and made $xxx". I'm not against anyone making a buck or two, but his show features the "this is what it supposed to be" that I love.
(To be fair, I like seeing those segments on Pawn Stars where a "helicopter in a box" or a Shelby Cobra body becomes a restored version and conversely, when it is all said and done on American Restorers, they show how much the item appreciated as a result of the restoration, as well.)
