Good luck from Yana and I Thomas! You are an inspiration to both of us smokers! We've tried and failed but we keep dusting ourselves off and trying again. One of these days we're going to do it...and I will use you as my inspiration! Good for you Thomas! My hat is off to you for sure!

I can think of no better reason to quit. WTG, Thomas.

        Way to go, Thomas!

I have a friend who when he quit still held onto a pack that he had soaked in a bucket of water and then left in his car to dry out. When ever he had the urge to smoke he used one of those and the taste left little for him to desire.
        It's all good!

            AWESOME!!!!!

And there will never be a greater reason to quit than your daughter.

See, she is already bringing change to the world.

Actually, my former boss at work switched to those so he could "smoke" at his desk. He would puff on them in meetings and on the phone, whenever... pretty much all the time. He would hit it 3 or 4 times, then yawn a bunch of times, then hit it again. I swear he was turning green from all the direct nicotine. I certainly would not recommend them, since the Nic is the real cuplret. Sure it's better than inhaling smoke, but the only real way to break the dependency is to stop using any form of nicotine.

                    Good on you!!
I quit smoking tobacco about 10 years ago. My system was to allow myself one cigarette per day. Absolute maximum of one smoke, without guilt, until I was down to no smokes per day, and it worked.
I'm not sure that this would work for anyone other than myself, but it did work for me, and I used no nicotine gum or patches.
It actually didn't take me that long to get used to drinking coffee without a smoke, which was the thing I missed most.

First off att'a boy Thomas! And to answer the e-cigarette question.. I've tried 'em but don't recommend them. In my experience with them (disposable not the rechargeable kind) I've noticed that they are really hit and miss. Here's my experiences...

                      1. First one I bought didn't work... actually sifted through the rack at the convenience store and discovered that over half the stock was leaking the fluid in the package.

                      2. The second one got so hot it was almost as if it was going to burn my lips.

                      3. This third time I was little bit more pleased however toking on it too much left me with a little water blister on the inside of my bottom lip.

So again I wouldn't recommend them however I gotta admit that it was fun freaking people out by taking a drag in a restaurant and a grocery store just like back in the good old days. Another fun double take came when the wife and I were walking across a parking lot at the mall when I took a drag and then just plopped it in my shirt pocket. The people walking towards us looked at me as if I had just escaped the funny farm and thought that my shirt was fixing to ignite. Oh what fun!

But seriously kids, smoking is a nasty habit so don't try it and if you do smoke give it up as soon as you can. I'm fighting with it myself everyday.

Good on you Thomas...I stopped for about 8 months then made the fatal mistake of having one again.

Have been trying to cut right down and stopped altogether a week ago.

I am using the patches...the thought of a 24 hour flight hanging for a smoke drives me crazy.

                        Best of luck to you.

                                Socially Inaappropriate Alert??

I was a situational smoker. Bars and OTHER.

Bars went non smoking so the Hot /Cold thing was out.( Cig in one hand cold beer in the other)
Other: I only smoked at home while looking at adult magazines.
So I quit looking at adult magazines.
Cutting that out has a lot of benifical side effects too.
