Yeah, Tom. Super-duper on the quitting. Get the Janty e-cig if you must, but NEVER go back. It took me 3 years to quit finally, but I used the e-cig/Aeros and without pain will have been completely smoke-free 2 years at Thanksgving.
son / daughter - are we gonna split hairs over it?
actually - I thaought it was way cool you did a batman room for a girl. -WHOOPS
i missed that kyrian was a girl - sorry, not sure why i assumed it was a girl's name except the only other person i know with the same name (different spelling) is a girl.

well anyhoo, i think stopping smoking is just as good for a son
I was a smoker for over 20 years. If you count pot, about 30. I have been drug free for 18 years and I am coming up, Christmas eve, on 3 years ciggerette free.
It was the hardest thing I ever had to do. I did not start smoking ciggs till I was 21, an the first TIME I smoked one, I smoked the entire pack. Just remember, there is no such thing as "just one" ever agian. I have quit twice before in my lifetime, once for 2 years. It only took 1 puff, just 1 PUFF to be a smoker again. Our bodies have receptor sites which nicotine binds to. Then our bodies actually produce more receptor sites which is why we smoke more to get the same effect. When the receptor site releases the nicotine and enough of them become empty, our body signals to replace the nicotine and we get the urge to light up. If you can recognize the pattern, you can defeat it. It is about 3-5 days when the "pain" will peak. Last 7 days and the phyisical part of the fight is over. Now comes the real fight, the mental part of the habit. Now it is just a matter of surrender. In this situation, giving up does not mean losing, it means not having to fight anymore. Good luck Thomas.

Thats wonderful news. Quitting smoking is a huge challenge. I used to smoke like a chimney. I went cold turkey and boy oh boy was it tough. It was very difficult but it was so worth it in the long run. I still struggle from time to time but I know it's the right thing to do.

Years ago my father went from 2 cartons a week to quitting cold turkey (after chain smoking for more than 50 years). A few years after he quit, I asked him how long it took to get over the urge to smoke. He said, "I'll let you know." But I've noticed that he doesn't chew as much gum as he did when he first quit smoking, so I think it's gotten better. Congratulations on quitting and good luck in the ongoing battle! I can't think of a better reason to quit smoking than having a newborn baby in your life.
Congratualations. I have never been a smoker thank goodness but my brother was one and he quit for the exact same reasons as you. He had his first child and went cold turkey. It has been about 8 or 9 years since he took his last drag and said that he still has cravings to this day (I can not even relate to it but it just tells me how truly addicting it is). He said his complete motivation comes from his children. Every time the craving comes he immediately turns to an image of his children. That is what he said has worked for him. The cravings are just once in a blue moon now. He did say at the beginning it is literally a one day at a time thing. Just think about getting through the day without one and worry about tomorrow...tomorrow.

Good for you Thomas It's going to be hard but every day you don't smoke makes the next day easier.....before you know it you won't fell the need to smoke just miss it...that will pass too...just don't put a cigarette in your mouth and you'll succeed......your doing the right thing...your child is the most important thing in the world
2 months since my last cigarette and I'm still holding on, altough I've had moments when I found myself very close to giving up and start to smoke again. But then I think of Kyrian and I get that little extra motivation to stay strong
