Yeah, have to agree.
I'll say this about Karen Carpenter...
You could drink my last beer on a bad day and right before I pick up a chair with the intent to cram it down, up, or across something, play this song.

(I think I actually pictured her singing this to ME.)
I came home with a joke one day in grade school that my Dad made me tell on command to a few of his buddies. (Keep in mind NONE of them were out of their Twenties at the time)...
"You know what I want to be when I grow up?"
"What?'"
"A plumber."
"Why do you want to be a plumber?"
"So I can fix Farrah's "faucet" and Olivia Newton's "john"."
They seemed to get it on a level I couldn't grasp at the time.Last edited by saildog; Oct 11, '10, 10:12 PM.Comment

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...Comment

Count me in the Karen Carpenter bandwagon...love her...such a sweet and perfect voice...
As far as a sweet male singer is concerned...the king of Mexican boleros...the late legendary Javier Solís...takes the cake...

You hear him singing, and the first thing you wanna do is drink tequila, and just take a ride to a gentler and sweeter Mexico...definitely my favorite non-English singer of all times.
The late Pedro Infante is a close second to me (he was actually more famous than Javier Solís back in the day)...he was both a great singer and movie star during the golden age of Mexican cinema...

You play these songs in your car radio in Mexico...and no one is gonna mess with you...guaranteed...

I do now...thanks for the "heads up"."No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris MannixComment
