I'm guessing he's facing charges of rape and child abuse

Yes, but if a 17 year old boy gets a 12 year old girl pregnant he is still going to be in some serious trouble.

But personally, both boys and girls that young should not be thinking about dating, they should concentrate in getting smarter first...that means school.
    I totally agree with that.

I want to agree with you Cat...but in this case...the thing is...that the girl can get pregnant, not the boy.

If they just enjoy each other's company then so be it, but I think it would probably be hard for both of them to keep it to that, and therefore just asking for trouble. If they can keep it on a platonic level until a more appropriate age, then good luck to them.

How could a parent brag about that. It's a nightmare scenario for normal people.

Eewww..no. So many issues here. Most likely the 12 year has a crush on the 17 year old and it is the 17 year old's responsibility to recognize it for what it is and not encourage it.
I would agree he needs help. When I was 17 I was not popular with the ladies. But I never considered someone that young to the answer.
