The way Kenny was talking they have been going out

I have a 13 year old daughter and she has already been told "no dating" until at least 16 and any prospective date needs to meet me first. She's allowed to hang out with friends of both sexes but no exclusive dates. We will probably let her go to her 8th grade dance but it will be very clear that the person is her age and that it is to be a "friends only" date. I know there is only so much you can do but I have already told my daughter how much she means to me and that any person wanting to date her at the appropriate time is to treat her like a lady and will meet me first for a "little" discussion. My daughter doesn't like the rules but I did notice that telling her that any prosepective date was to treat her like a lady and meet me first brought a smile to her face (in an appreciative way).

My sister had a relationship with a guy who had a 14 year old daughter. He didn't mind his daughter bringing home 18+ boyfriends (who spent the night with her).
They said it was OK, because (and here it comes!)...they only had sex while she was having her period and couldn't get pregnant...
Yeah, really great parenting! She'll be totally OK that way.

Some parents should be locked up and neutered....

check your state statutory rape laws it is usually 13 but some states make the age difference a "window" of years - sadly it seems these laws were written by lawmakers who wanted to cover their own indisctretions legally

Ok , I feel its wrong, but I remember when I used to go to boarding school, we also had day people, but I do remember one girl in our year, and we were only thirteen, she was so much more developed than her piers, looking more like 16, and remember her boasting she had a 18 year old boyfriend. Some girls simply develop more quicker, and u cant tell with them.

A friend of mines 17 year old daughter went out with a 15 year old boy in school. they are now raising a little girl and he isn't of age yet! So , no i don't think a twelve year old should be going on any dates, never mind with someone that old!

    Yes!

Even up here where there are so many "open-minded" (read: brains falling out) people the age of consent for sexual activity was raised from 14 to 16 in 2008.

Sexual activity could be even a 17 year old copping a feel.

Does the USA have a "peer Group" clause? If the boy was 13 there wouldn't be a problem but the age difference has to be less than 2 years...

heck no! 12 is way too young to be going out on dates let alone with a 17 year old.

Yeah, I'd think a 17-year-old would be ashamed to be seen with a 12-year-old. If she were my daughter, I'd probably call the boys' parents and tell them they need to get a handle on their son before he winds up in jail for kiddie fiddling. Something's stunted him from being able to engage girls his own age. At any rate, I couldn't imagine either set of parents going along with that.

what the hell, when I was 17 I never found a little girl attractive ... and that's what a 12 year old is ... a little girl.

This is just all kinds of messed up!
