Theres still Beatle songs out there that I've never heard of

Ok, i may not be a Beatle fan on the level of Blue Meanie, but I do love the Beatles and have all their albums and the 3 Anthologies ones too and thought that i heard them all. But to stumble on a Beatle's song that i've never heard of is always refreshing. I saw this today
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdrGS__yg6Q
Its b side and I guess that is why I've never come across it, i'm wondering what else is out there now. kind of made my day. Now I need to find a free download (;-)

Thanks Mike, I don't think that album was released in the UK.
Got this from wiki, it looks like I need to get some extras to have everything the Beatles did on cd.

Parlophone released Hey Jude in Britain on 11 May 1979 (catalogue number PCS 7184.) (If a fan who owned all twelve studio British Beatles albums augmented his or her collection with Hey Jude, Magical Mystery Tour, A Collection of Beatles Oldies, and the British version of Rarities, his or her collection would include every official Beatles song, although a number of officially-released alternate mixes would still be missing.) Until the release of 1967–1970 in 1973, Hey Jude was the only way to own the extremely popular "Hey Jude" single on LP or in a stereo mix. The songs "Lady Madonna", "Rain", and "Revolution" also appeared for the first time in stereo on this album.

The problem with that youtube clip is that Macca's bass is completely buried in the backround. If you ever get a chance to hear that coming off of vinyl I guarantee you'll be amazed by the bass Paul plays...it's simple and repetitive but it drives that song as does Ringo's stellar drum work. Here in the US Rain was the flipside of the single "Paperback Writer" I think the single was released in the UK in the Beatles Singles Box Set back in '82 I think.
"When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
          The beauty that surrounds them
          Isn't it a pity".

          - "Isn't It A Pity"
          By George Harrison

Rain is a top five Beatles track for me. In terms of it's overall melody, lyric and structure it's perfect in almost every way.

Also, while I agree with Meanies assessment of Paul's bass playing, what is often overlooked is the brilliant drumming of one Ringo Starr. I've never understood those who are quick to dismiss Ringo as the "disposable Beatle" when in fact his drumming was so odd and unique--an integral part of the whole equation. You can hear his fills and know it's him immediately.....

Yeah, "Rain" is a great song! I love the promo for it.

One of the major Beatle tribute bands is named "Rain." I think they are the band who will be on Broadway for the next few months in a Beatles show.

It's the same band, although none of the original members remain. Rain has been around since the 70's. They remain one of the best Beatles tribute bands ever assembled.

I'm still hoping that Birth Of The Beatles gets released on DVD one day. That movie is one of the main things that sparked my interest in the Beatles in the late 70's.

Wiki is wrong. It was released in February, 1970.

But you obviously knew that because you mention...

I came to know the song as a B-Side back in the 1960's but got it in digital form on the CD Past Masters vol 2.

Here's a Demo of John Lennon singing a song that he wound up giving to Billy J Kramer and The Dakotas but John never released it with The Beatles -- Bad To Me.

I'm still looking for a demo of The Beatles doing a demo of World Without Love. No, that's not Austin Power...

I discovered the song "RAIN" from watching the 1983 movie "TWO OF A KIND"
in which a character that was essentially "The Devil" sang snippets of
the chorus from RAIN throughout the movie.

RINGO has been quoted as saying that his drumming on RAIN
is his favorite drumming of all the BEATLES material.
"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris Mannix

I remember buying the Japanese import of the 'Hey Jude' LP back in '79, and being totally mesmerized by hearing John's double-tracked harmony on 'Rain's' refrain with such clarity.. first time in Stereo.

                              It was impeccable.
