Oh, Hector. Why do so many men hate Gone With the Wind? It's a great piece of storytelling.

I saw it and thought it was one of the most realistic alien evironments ever created. The 3D helps that but even a regular viewing is impressive. I don't think it's the best movie ever made but I think it is a very good movie. It has a relevant message. You can look at history to see it's a valid point.

If maybe his Massive ego and BS attitude help him making great movies. Titanic, Aliens, Terminator I and II , Avatar. So James keep the ego and Attitude going so you can make movie worth paying $13.00 for

Well... maybe the BS attitude and Massive Ego comments were directed at his reactions to the notion that Terminator was a direct lift from Harlan Ellison, Avatar (or at the very least it's design) is a direct lift of a 1980's French comic book, etc...

While I've enjoyed all of these films (well... Titanic... hmm.), most of these films, I wouldn't call Avatar the Best Movie Ever by any means. It's possibly the best special effects movie ever, in terms of how they are integrated and service the plot. The plot is broad enough that it can be viewed by agnostics up through several religious perspectives and each group will find their own meanings, relative to them.

My problem with it, while enjoying it immensely for spectacle, was that I was taken out of the experience by the theme which to me seemed to be - If I rape it, I keep it ... be it horse, dragon, female indigenous population, culture, planet, God... all the way up. It made it hard to engage in the movie for me because I was constantly being reminded of it and wondering why.

Anyway - it's no Le Samourai. Or Planet of the Apes, depending on who's posting.
